Fans of Dandadan have received another unexpected illustration from creator Yukinobu Tatsu. This time, the manga artist has turned his attention to Bouryoku Banzai, a newer series created by Homura Kawamoto, known for Kakegurui: Compulsive Gambler, and artist Nadai Nishi.

Tatsu shared an illustration featuring Setsuna, one of the central characters from Bouryoku Banzai. The artwork shows her standing confidently over defeated opponents, reflecting the violent personality that makes the character stand out in the manga. The illustration also serves as a recommendation for readers interested in checking out the series.

What Is Bouryoku Banzai About?

Bouryoku Banzai follows Akita, a student who wants a quiet and trouble-free school life. His plans change after he encounters Setsuna, a girl with a strong appetite for fighting.

When bullies target Akita, Setsuna steps in and defeats them. Her violent approach eventually pulls Akita into a world that is different from the peaceful life he hoped to maintain.

The manga is published in Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine and takes a much more mature approach to violence than Dandadan. That makes Tatsu’s decision to draw Setsuna particularly interesting, considering how different the series’ tones can be despite both featuring unusual characters and unpredictable situations.

Tatsu’s Illustration Captures Setsuna’s Dangerous Side

The new artwork focuses on one of Setsuna’s defining traits: her willingness to settle problems through physical confrontation. Tatsu’s version depicts her after a fight, surrounded by defeated opponents, making the character’s intimidating personality immediately clear.

The illustration has also attracted attention because Tatsu has increasingly used his social media presence to highlight manga and creative works that catch his interest. His recommendation gives Bouryoku Banzai additional visibility among Dandadan readers who may not have encountered the series before.

This latest tribute also fits Tatsu’s reputation for creating visually distinctive characters. His work on Dandadan combines comedy, supernatural horror, and high-energy action, while his monster and character designs frequently push exaggerated expressions and unusual concepts.
