Netflix and CD PROJEKT RED have revealed the first full teaser trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, giving fans their first extended look at the anime’s brand-new cast and confirming that the standalone series will arrive on the streaming platform in Fall 2026. Produced once again by Studio Trigger, the 10-episode sequel leaves behind the story of David Martinez to explore another unforgiving chapter set in the dystopian world of Cyberpunk 2077.

Rather than continuing the original narrative, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 introduces fresh faces steering the brutal streets of Night City. The new footage suggests an even darker and more violent experience than the award-winning first season, reinforcing the franchise’s signature themes of survival, revenge, and the human cost of chasing fame in a broken society.

New trailer introduces Roman Carax and a fresh crew

The teaser places Roman Carax at the center of the story, a young cinephile searching for meaningful stories in a city that has largely abandoned traditional cinema in favor of braindances. Throughout the trailer, Roman is seen documenting the horrific violence unfolding around him, hinting that his camera may become as important as any weapon in Night City’s dangerous underworld.

Joining Roman are Weak Kingsley, veteran edgerunner D, and Talia Yang, a Corpo with a violent streak. While Netflix has yet to reveal the full plot, the footage highlights intense gunfights, brutal cybernetic combat, and emotional moments that suggest every member of the new crew will be fighting for survival in their own way.

The official synopsis describes the anime as

“a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge.”

It adds,

“In a city that thrives in the spotlight of violence, one question remains: when the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?”

Studio Trigger returns with a new creative vision

Although the cast is entirely new, much of the creative talent behind the acclaimed first season is returning. Kai Ikarashi, who directed the fan-favorite Season 1 episode Girl on Fire, serves as director, while Masahiko Otsuka returns for series composition. Ichigo Kanno handles character designs, continuing Studio Trigger’s distinctive visual style.

The teaser also features “You Can’t Run From Me,” an original song performed by Rico Nasty, alongside a new score composed by Tsuneo Imahori, best known for his work on Trigun. The combination of stylish animation, high-energy music, and relentless action suggests Studio Trigger is aiming to deliver another visually striking adaptation.

The original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners became one of Netflix’s biggest anime successes after its 2022 debut, winning Anime of the Year at the 2023 Crunchyroll Anime Awards and helping revive interest in Cyberpunk 2077. With a standalone story and an entirely new cast, the sequel appears designed to expand the universe while remaining accessible to newcomers.
