CharaLab has launched a new AI Manga Generator aimed at publishers, independent creators, and digital content producers looking to turn written ideas into manga and comic visuals more quickly. The tool, announced on September 17, 2026, is designed to generate illustrated scenes from text prompts while giving users control over panels, visual styles, aspect ratios, and color.
The launch comes as AI image-generation tools increasingly move beyond individual illustrations toward sequential storytelling. CharaLab says its generator is intended to help creators move from a story concept or script to visual storyboards without requiring traditional drawing skills or complex prompt engineering.
CharaLab’s AI Manga Generator Supports Up to Six Panels
The central feature of CharaLab’s new tool is its ability to create one to six manga or comic panels in a single generation. Users can describe characters, clothing, expressions, actions, dialogue, settings, and other scene details through a text prompt before generating the sequence.
The multi-panel approach is particularly focused on storytelling rather than producing isolated character images. CharaLab says creators can use the feature to establish pacing, character reactions, and transitions between scenes, potentially making it useful for early storyboarding as well as finished digital content.
The company’s official AI Manga Generator page also recommends describing each panel’s sequence within the prompt when creating longer strips. This is intended to help maintain narrative and spatial consistency between panels.
CharaLab also provides four broad visual categories: Japanese manga, American comics, Korean webtoons, and Chinese manhua. Users can switch between styles and choose visual treatments ranging from traditional retro screentones to more modern digital linework.
Multiple Formats Target Social Media and Digital Publishing
The generator is also designed around different digital publishing requirements. CharaLab lists 1:1, 9:16 and 16:9 options, allowing creators to prepare content for platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and wider-screen video formats. The tool also supports monochrome and full-color outputs.
According to CharaLab, users can describe a scene, select their preferred style, panel count and format, then generate and download the resulting artwork. The company says new users receive daily free credits, while additional credit packages and subscription options are available for users requiring greater production capacity.
CharaLab’s current pricing page lists plans beginning at $9.99 per month, with higher tiers available for users requiring additional generation capacity and features such as high-resolution output and commercial-use support.
The company positions the tool toward publishers, indie manga creators, digital marketers and creators producing content for reading platforms and social media. However, the generator is still an AI-assisted production tool, meaning creators would need to determine how well its generated artwork fits their individual editorial, artistic and commercial requirements.
CharaLab says users retain ownership of artwork generated through the service and can use creations commercially subject to its terms.
