The Chained Soldier manga is taking a temporary hiatus after artist Yōhei Takemura revealed that they are dealing with a wrist injury that has made continuing the series difficult.

The announcement was made through Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+, with Takemura prioritizing recovery over maintaining the manga’s regular schedule.

YŌHEI TAKEMURA NEEDS TIME TO RECOVER

Takemura injured their right wrist in June, specifically suffering damage to the fibrocartilage. The artist continued working while wearing a brace, but drawing reportedly placed significant strain on the injured wrist.

Takemura explained that the continued workload caused pain and interfered with the healing process. Because a complete recovery is expected to take considerable time, the artist has decided to stop working on manga drafts temporarily.

The Shonen Jump+ editorial team said the series is currently scheduled to resume on November 14, although Takemura’s health will take priority. Future publication schedules will reportedly be determined in consultation with Takemura, writer Takahiro, and medical professionals.

Takahiro and Takemura launched Chained Soldier, also known as Mato Seihei no Slave, on Shonen Jump+ in January 2019. The story follows Yūki Wakura, who encounters Kyōka Uzen, captain of the 7th Anti-Demon Squad, in a world threatened by monsters emerging from a mysterious demonic gate.

The manga has also expanded into an anime franchise. The first season premiered in January 2024, followed by a second season in January 2026. A third anime season is currently in production, giving fans more of the series to anticipate while the manga takes its temporary break.

For now, readers will have to wait for Takemura’s recovery before the series returns to its regular production schedule.
