Paramount Pictures has officially announced that its long-awaited Call of Duty movie will premiere in theaters on June 30, 2028, marking a major milestone for one of the gaming industry’s biggest franchises.
The film will be directed by Pete Berg, with Taylor Sheridan writing the screenplay, bringing together two filmmakers known for grounded military and action storytelling.
The announcement was made during Paramount’s CinemaCon presentation, where Berg shared new details about the project’s creative direction.

In a video message shown during the event, Berg explained that authenticity is a top priority for the film. He emphasized that both he and Sheridan have strong ties to the special operations community and want to capture the experiences of elite soldiers in a realistic way.
“Taylor and I are both deeply connected to the special ops community,”
Berg said. He added that the goal is to portray these soldiers
“on a human level, but also bring amazing scale.”
While Paramount has yet to reveal the film’s cast or storyline, the adaptation is expected to draw inspiration from the military themes that have defined the Call of Duty franchise since its debut in 2003.
According to Paramount’s CinemaCon presentation, Call of Duty has attracted more than 1 billion players and generated over $35 billion in lifetime revenue, making it one of the most successful video game franchises ever created.
The film is being produced in partnership with Activision, which is owned by Microsoft. Reports have also indicated that the agreement could expand beyond a single movie, opening the door for future Call of Duty films or television projects if the first installment proves successful.
