TOKYOPOP has confirmed the English-language release of Bride of Ignat, an award-winning BL manga series by Moyori Mori, with Volume 1 scheduled to launch on April 28, 2026. The title arrives under the publisher’s LoveLove imprint and will be available in multiple formats, including digital, paperback, and hardcover editions.
The series is positioned as a fantasy romance centered on sacrifice, identity, and emotional connection. It follows Rita, a young man selected by his village to serve as the “Dragon’s Bride,” a ritual offering tied to a long-standing legend. Instead of meeting a tragic fate, Rita encounters Ignat, a mythical dragon capable of taking human form, setting the stage for a character-driven narrative that blends folklore elements with BL storytelling.
TOKYOPOP describes the work as a “beautifully illustrated, award-winning fantasy” that explores the evolving relationship between Rita and Ignat. The emotional core of the story focuses on Rita’s persistence and compassion, which gradually challenge Ignat’s detached and guarded nature. The series earned recognition as a 2025 Chill Chill Award winner, further establishing its presence within the BL genre.
A special edition of Volume 1 will also be released exclusively through Kinokuniya Bookstores in the United States. This version includes a retailer-exclusive variant cover along with a bonus shikishi artboard illustration created by Moyori Mori. Availability will be limited, and pre-orders for the edition are expected to open in early April. A similar exclusive edition will also be offered through Kinokuniya locations across North America.

“If life is meaningless, no matter where you are…” Rita, a lonely boy, is chosen as the “Dragon’s Bride” by the village custom. The ancient legend of the “Snowy Mountain Dragon” is now nothing more than a legend, but Rita, unable to find his role in the village, accepts the sacrifice while realizing that it is to reduce the number of mouths to feed.
Rita, who was left alone and freezing in the snowstorm, is saved by Ignat, a beautiful dragon in human form. Rita’s eyes sparkle because the dragon really exists, and he can fulfill his role as a “bride”, but Ignat rejects him, saying, “I no longer need a bride.” Still, Rita cannot give up, and he learns the secret of the ritual to turn humans into “dragons.” A silent dragon x a fearless sacrifice. A fantasy BL story of a non-human marriage that will heal your frozen heart!
Moyori Mori is also known for the one-shot TOUCH WITHIN THE ABYSS, which has been published in English by TOKYOPOP under the same LoveLove imprint. With Bride of Ignat, the creator expands on their portfolio with a longer-form narrative that combines fantasy world-building with relationship-focused storytelling.
