Trigger Warning Review (Netflix)

Looking for a thrilling action movie with Jessica Alba? Look elsewhere. Trigger Warning might sound edgy with its title, but it’s a confusing choice for a revenge movie where knives are the main weapons.

There’s nothing scary or shocking here, just plain boring. While streaming services give us lots of action B-movies, some are fun and inventive.

This movie had potential. It’s from the same production company that brought us John Wick and Monkey Man, and a woman director in the action genre is exciting.

But sadly, it falls flat. You might put it on hoping to recapture Jessica Alba’s action star days, but you’ll probably switch to something else before the credits roll.

The action scenes in Trigger Warning are just as disappointing as the rest of the movie. While Jessica Alba might have practiced with knives, the fight scenes are boring and lack any creativity. The sound effects team had to rely heavily on generic knife-cutting noises to make it seem exciting.

There are a couple of short moments that hint at what could have been, like a scene where Alba uses a broom and hedge trimmers as weapons. But these cool parts are over in seconds. Despite the loud music trying to pump you up, nothing in the movie actually raises your heart rate.

There’s a scene where Alba picks up a machete and looks determined. This is supposed to be a turning point, but there are no big fights or anything interesting for her to do with it.

Trigger Warning ends up being just another forgettable action movie on a streaming service, and unlike some fun guilty pleasure movies, this one is a total dud. The movie is full of knives, but the action itself is dull and doesn’t deliver.
