The Indian-Kannada language film Yuvarathnaa is one of the most anticipated films of 2021. But in a matter of few days became a victim to the mild lockdown being imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It’s been only a week since it was released in theatres on the 1st of April 2021. Fans were really looking forward since the movie was set to be a comeback for Puneeth Rajkumar after almost two years. A movie which, upon release, saw completely packed theatres across the country. Eventually garnering praise for the performance of the actors in the film. Now answering to the new safety protocols, the producers are taking drastic measures required.
Yuvarathnaa is a Kananda Masala Film following the story of a college about to shut down due to privatization. Yuvarathnaa Amazon Prime Video Release Date
Yuvarathnaa will now be releasing on Amazon Prime Video on 9 April 2021. The producers announced the shift amidst the movie running successfully in Kannada and Telugu theatres and in the United States of America.
The movie’s lead star Puneeth Rajkumar talked about the OTT shift to media. According to him, they released the film at a time when there were no plans for restrictions and came with public assurance by the Chief Minister. The movie did succeed in theatres with good word of mouth. The restriction marks the death of a good Kannda film, as quoted by Puneeth. He believes if they had an idea earlier, they wouldn’t have gone ahead with the release.
The film originally planned to release way back in October of 2019 on the occasion of Dusshera. After several delays in post-production, it went to May 8, 2020 release only to become a victim of Pandemic. Thus, after much effort, a release for 1st April 2021 in India and 31st March of 2021 in the USA was announced. Now once again, the movie is taking a backseat.
A number of celebrities spoke out and backed Yuvarathnaa for lighter restrictions. These include Sudeep, director Santosh Ananddram, producer Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films, and DR Jairaj, chairman. It’s better the movie wasn’t canceled altogether after an 8-day run. A request from the creators to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa allowed the film to run on a 50% occupancy rate in theatres.

Plot For Yuvarathnaa
The official synopsis of Yuvarathnaa tells the story set around a reputed college, “RK University.” Now with political reasons and the system of Privatization, the college is facing trouble soon leading to a closure. As the principal of the college stands up for the university, Yuvaraja and other students join him in the battle against politicians and the privatization methods. Will they conquer is a story to be seen in the movie.
The trailer for Yuvarathnaa gives us more insight into the characters of the movie. They serve as the main attraction for the simple plot. The principal, Gurudev Deshmukh, believes education is a service and not a business. He looks to fight for good students rather than the ones who pay for the seats. He thinks of the later ones as no less than a criminal. As these people try to take over college, a rebellious but kindhearted student Yuvaraja steps in to support the principal’s vision. The movie is clearly a battle between Education and business, with one winning.

Cast For Yuvarathnaa
Yuvarathnaa is a movie led by the power star attraction of Puneeth Rajkumar. He will adore the role of rebellious and kindhearted student Yuvaraja. Joining Puneeth Rajkumar in the lead is Sayyeshaa Saigal. She will adore the role of Vandana, a lecturer at the RK University. Prakash Raj joins the film as the principal of RK University Gurudev Deshmukh.
More names joining the cast of Yuvarathnaa include Sonu Gowda as a lawyer, Dhananjay as Antony Joseph, Diganth as DC Samarth Baghwath, Tarak Ponnappa as Inspector Azad, Avinash as Vice-Principal Jayapal, Sudharani as Professor and Sai Kumar as Raghav Reddy, Central Education Minister.
The movie will further have a special appearance from Kavya Shetty in the song “Feel the Power.” Furthermore, Kannada stars Lohithaswa and B. Jayashree will be making cameo appearances in the film.
