About Yotsuba&!
Yotsuba&! also known as Yotsuba to! is a Japanese manga series created by author and illustrator Kiyohiko Azuma. The manga belongs to the comedy and slice of life genre and was published by ASCII Media Works Publications. The original manga was serialized in Dengeki Daioh magazine and the English version was released in Yen Plus Magazine. The manga debuted on 21sth March 2003 and now after about 19 years, it is still ongoing with 15 tankobon volumes. As for now, there is no anime adaption of the manga but an anime spinoff of the manga was released in the year 2016 titled “Nyanbo”. The spin-off anime was created by Shirogumi Studio and was licensed by Crunchyroll to stream it all over the world.
The plot of the series includes many humorous scenes as it goes around the life of a five-year-old girl Yotsuba Koiwai. Little Yotsuba is very cheerful, curious, odd, and somewhat quirky. The little girl is quite different from other children of her age that her own father calls her unusual. She is ignorant or unaware of many things that a child of her age would have known. These things include most of the general things like doorbells, escalators, air conditions, and playground swings. Her learning about some new yet common things and her frequent misunderstanding about a lot of the things that have been depicted in the manga series. The series began when Yotsuba and her adoptive father Yousuke Koiwai relocates to a new city and began living there.
Yotsuba to! Anime Adaptation
Back in 2005, creator Kiyohiko Azuma was there in an interview, as mentioned above there is said that he doesn’t know whether there will be an anime adaption of the Yotsuba to! or not. After it, in 2008 there were rumors that sparked out Azuma is planning to give the fans an anime adaption of the series. However, they stand false as on 5th December, Friday, 2008 Azuma posted an entire blog stating that all these rumors are false and applied the fans to not believe them. He also stated some reasons why the manga series Yotsuba To! can’t get an anime adaption.
Kiyohiko Azuma tells the reason that Yotsuba&! anime can not be attempted because it is very difficult to adapt. The distinctive plot of the series and its storytelling is something that is preventing them to adapt it into an anime series. Further, he gave an instance where he notes a scene from the manga where Yotsuba visits Ayase’s family to play. That scene doesn’t have anything important that happens as Yotsuba just walks into the door and says hello. Just like this, the manga has many scenes like this which will become very boring if gets a picturization and the viewers will eventually lose interest. So, from that day, there isn’t any news about the anime series, and after this explanation, it is hardly that it would ever get an anime adaption.
