The early 2000s were definitely a hit, with amazing shows and books coming out and us watching and reading them without a worry. With all the growing up, we all forgot about the things that we were missing. And to just bring that one happy memory back is that one of our favorites science fiction comics from the early 2000s is being adapted into a TVshow! The popular comic book series Y: The Last Man created by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra is coming to the streaming screens. The book began publishing in 2002 and ran for six years until DC announced its end in 2008.
It has been 13 years now, and the book can still be found in the late Millenials and early gen z’s happy memories. The story based on DC’s Vertigo series. FX dropped the first trailer of “Y: The Last Man” is already out. And it looks dope! The trailer gives the look on what is about to come in the show. And with the first look, a virus is out to hunt and a lot more. (quite like the current times!) And readers and fans can’t really wait to know more about the release date of Y: The Last Man.
The Characters And Cast And Where Do You Know Them From Before?
“The Giant” fame Ben Schnetzer is playing the role of Yorick Brown. “Let Him Go” fame Diane Lane is playing Senator Jennifer Brown. Olivia Thirlby, who was in “Juno” is coming back as Hero Brown. Hit TV series “Shameless” fame Ashley Romans is playing the role of Agent 355. Amber Tamblyn from ” Two and a Half Men” is joining the show as Kimberly Cunningham. Elliot Fletcher from “MTV comedy series Faking It” is also in the show playing the role of Sam Jordan. “Need For Speed”‘s Imogen Poots is our Hero Brown. While “Succession” fame Juliana Canfield is playing the role of Beth DeVille.
The cast list also have the winner of “Theatre World Award” actress Marin Ireland playing the role of Nora. Along with Diana Bang from “Resident Aliens” and “The Interview.” Some other characters are Quincy Kirkwood playing the role of Mackenzie Brady. Jess Salgueiro playing Christine Flores. Laura de Carteret acting as Lisa Murray. Samantha Brown playing Kelsey, along with Sydney Meyer acting as Nicole.
Announcing the release date for Y: The Last Man, FX is not making the fans wait any longer. Y: The Last Man will premier its first two episodes on Sept. 13, 2021. The episodes will be available on FX and on Hulu. For the season 1, the show will have a total of 10 episodes. The production of the show is being handled by Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson’s Color Force. The production team of show contains absolute gems like Eliza Clark and Queen & Slim filmmaker Melina Matsoukas. FX made the announcement that the whole season will be directed by women. Majority staff i.e. DPs, the production designer, costume designer, casting director, editors, and stunt coordinator are women.
The production of the show has seen a lot of ups and downs. Even though it began in 2018, it took three years for it be able to be released. Even before the pandemic and restriction ould hit the shooting of the show, the former actors hit it. With the first episode already shot and departure of the lead actor Barry Keoghan after the shooting along with the showrunners Michael Green and Aïda Mashaka Croal. The team had to start everything over.
What Will The Show Focus On?
The show is based in a post-apocalyptic world. Focusing on Yorick Brown and his pet Capuchin monkey Ampersand, who apparently are the only survivors of the virus that has been attacking the world. But the show won’t just be focusing on Yorick as there is much more to find out. With the look of the trailer, a lot of secrets like the backstory of Hero Brown and Agent 355’s ways of solving the mystery. And the unknown but the most awaited the arrival Of Ampersand.
