The upcoming Dragon Ball Super film is on its way to bringing back the tyranny of the man-made androids. It seems that the Red Ribbon Army no longer wants to play the bad guys, so they designed the new androids like superheroes from comic books to make them more acceptable in society. Now, it goes without saying that the Red Ribbon Army must have an evil motive in restarting their android projects. If I remember correctly, Trunks has always been the primary savior whenever there’s an Android Problem. Are we going to see Trunks again in the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie?
Future Trunks has a tragic and bloodstained history revolving around the androids. In the fateful invasion, Trunks lost Gohan, whom he looked up to as a brotherly figure. He traveled back in time and saved Goku from his terminal illness just to prevent androids from taking over. Now that Earth is threatened by androids again, there’s a slim probability that the Dragon Ball franchise may bring back the iconic Z-fighter.
What to Expect from the Movie?
The movie takes place right after the events of the Tournament of Power arc and the Broly movie when Goku and Vegeta are busy training under Whis. Earth is left unprotected with the infamous Red Ribbon Army slowly regaining its lost position. They come up with two new androids, Gamma 1 and 2, and introduce them as the superheroes of the Earth.
Unlike many other Dragon Ball villains, the Red Ribbon Army and its leader never learn from their mistakes. It’s obvious that they are planning to take over the world with these androids. They start their rampage by targetting Piccolo and will probably come after the remaining Z fighters soon. Can Gohan stop them once again? We have to wait for the film to find that out.

Will We See Trunks in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero?
Not long ago, the official website of Dragon Ball Super had revealed the cast members for the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie. Fans were shocked to see the voice actor of Future Trunks, Takeshi Kusao, on the list. However, that’s not enough to confirm Future Trunks’s presence in the film since Kusao voices for kid Trunks as well. Since there’s no trace of Future trunks in the trailers, fans fear that Kusao may have an insignificant part to play in the film.
Well, the Dragon Ball franchise never fails to surprise you, so I am still considering the possibility of Future Trunks appearing. Think for yourself; the Red Ribbon Army must have survived in Future Trunks’ timeline as well. So, Future Trunks, out of all people, should sense the reemergence of androids first. In case he had failed to stop them again, he should travel back in the past to prevent Gohan’s timeline from sharing the same fate. However, there’s no confirmation about this theory. Everything I just mentioned is mere speculations that we just can’t talk enough about.
Will Future Trunks Get a New Transformation?
The Dragon Ball Super: Super Heroes is mostly Gohan-centric, so if anyone is getting a new powerup, it will be Gohan. Moreover, Future Trunks has already unlocked his Super Saiyan Rage form in the Zamasu saga, so he is less likely to get a new transformation any time soon.
One thing is for sure; we are definitely going to see at least one Trunks in the film. There’s no way of telling whether or not his role will be a big one. Watching Trunks and Gohan fight the Androids side by side is something we all have craved to see right from the Cell Saga. If you have seen the spin-off arc on Future Trunk’s past, the reunion of these two half-Saiyans from different timelines will be nothing less than than a nostalgic voyage down the memory lane.
