Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is a multi-decade anime series with a huge cast of characters. The anime originally aired from 6 October 2012 to 6 April 2013. The manga which inspired the series was written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki. It’s been a popular manga since the 1980s, and it found popularity as an animated series as well. Although there are several storylines to JoJo’s franchise, they all share one thing in common: epic, high-stakes battles with supernatural powers. In the second part, we saw one such battle between Wamuu and Joseph Joestar, which Jojo ended up winning. So, will Wamuu die in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure?

The series revolves around the mysterious adventures of the Joestar family across generations, right from the end of the 19th century to the modern era. The members of the Joestar family all have the destiny to take down supernatural enemies using the powers they possess. The story is split into unique parts, each of which follows a certain specific member. All of their names can also be shortened to ‘JoJo’.

With so much happening, it comes as no surprise that some characters are going to meet their makers along the way. Interestingly, Hirohiko Araki isn’t afraid of killing off some of his characters.

Who is Wamuu?

Wamuu is a major antagonist in the second part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures series, Battle Tendency. Wamuu is a Pillar man warrior working under his superiors Esidisi and Kars. Pillar men were very powerful humanoid superhumans who were in the battle Tendency series.

Wamuu’s name is inspired by the 90’s band, “Wham!”. His appearance is very tall and muscular. He has a chiseled face with a square jaw. Like most JoJo characters, he is well-built, with his veins even bulging out of his muscles. He has a thick outline of a square tattooed on his face in blue ink. The tattoo has the words ‘Power’ and ‘Alphabet’ in it. He wears a crown on his head and large earrings. His clothes, after he awakened, are inspired by ancient Egyptian and ancient Greek clothing.

Wamuu loves the thrill of battle and always fights with honor. In one instance, he even stopped himself from finishing off his mortal enemy Joeseph Joestar as he was defenseless. And killing off a defenseless man went against his honor code. Wamuu respects humans only if they take combat seriously and if they are strong fighters themselves. This is also why he usually just ignores non-fighters. Wamuu is the only antagonist in the JoJo series who cannot bring himself to harm or murder children. However, one of his masters, Kars does not share the same morals. Throughout the years, he has developed himself an extreme mental switch designed to help him focus if he ever enters into a state of shock or ever panics during battle.

Wamuu’s Abilities

Wamuu is a Fighting genius according to many other characters in the series. He possesses superhuman strength being a pillar man. This is seen when he uses a stone column as a weapon. Wamuu wears a special headgear that was specially created to be an anti-ripple tool. He used this specific device to nullify caesar’s ripple-charged bubbles by spinning his head and knocking the bubbles away.

Wamuu can also perform body manipulation like other Pillar men. Some of the abilities he has gained through body manipulation are Absorption and wind mode. He has three special fighting techniques due to wind mode; Holy Sandstorm, Wind suit, and Final Mode: Atmospheric rift.

Will Wamuu die in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures?

Unfortunately, yes, Wamuu dies after his all-out battle with Joeseph Joestar. Hirohiko Araki isn’t afraid of killing off some of his characters, not even protagonists. Throughout the Battle Tendency arc, Wamuu acts as the main rival for Joeseph Joestar and fights him whenever they meet. Through these fights, the two develop a sense of mutual respect for each other. But there can be no friendship between foes during wartime, and the two inevitably start a deathmatch.

Wamuu and Joeseph’s last battle takes place at the Skeleton Heel stone arena. During the battle, when Joeseph counters his Holy sandstorm with his own ripple-infused reins, Wamuu suffers from psychological trauma. So he gouges his eyes out in order to get rid of any mental duress and perceives Joeseph with the help of his horn.

As the battle went on, Wamuu tore his already worn-out arms and fired them at Joeseph. However, Joeseph countered it by throwing a bottle of oil and Caesar’s burning headband. The flame destroyed Wamuu’s body, leaving only his head. Joeseph, out of respect, gives his own blood to ease his pain. This angers Wamuu as he thinks he is being pitied. Joseph corrects him by telling him it was out of honor. As a symbol of respect, Wamuu uses the last of his strength to protect Joseph from a group of vampires before finally dying.
