Who Is Trevor Belmont?
Trevor Belmont is one of the central characters of Castlevania who primarily serves as a monster hunter by profession. During his backstory, we come to know that he was the sole remaining member of the Belmont clan, a legendary family that was dedicated to keeping the citizens safe by eliminating dangerous monsters. However, the household was brought to ruin when all the members were ostracised and deported by the church on the basis of false allegations of practising witchcraft. Thus, in a tragic turn of events, a young Trevor was orphaned and brought to the streets. This causes Trevor to become a depressed drunkard who could hardly care for those around him. Thus, initially, Travor is shown to be a lethargic drunkard without any hope for his own future. His demeanour becomes that of a cynical, rude, and callous man who wouldn’t even bat an eye if a child died in front of him.
Trevor’s apathetic and selfish nature is most likely the result of the unfair fate that was wrongfully bestowed upon his family by the very people that they swore to protect. However, beneath his indifferent nature, he is actually someone who wants to desperately protect those dear to his heart. It wouldn’t be too far of a stretch to say that Trevor initially suffered from severe self-esteem issues due to being cast out of society. All in all, though, he is a fearless warrior who has no qualms about putting his life on the line for the people that he loves and for what he believes in. even in adverse situations, he maintains a calm, measured, and collected demeanour which is mainly what makes him a force to be reckoned with.

Does Trevor Die?
The answer to the question is, that, no, Trevor, fortunately, and most luckily does not die in Castelvania. Although Trevor does engage in a battle with Death, which is pretty much one-sided and in the latter’s favour due to the vast difference in overall strength, he still manages to not only kill the reaper but also, luckily survive. Even though Trevor is very much aware of the fact that a fight with the grim reaper would only result in his death, he still decides to do so to protect a pregnant Sypha. So, with the intent of protecting his family, Trevor initiates the battle with a genius plan. As Trevor and Death engage in a deadly fight that results in the former getting gravely injured, he finally decides to use the weapon fragments that he had taken from the royal treasury in Targoviste.
Trevor realises that using the sword, whose power lies in its one-sided murder-suicide deal with God, will surely kill Death as well as himself. Thus, as expected, when Trevor stabs the reaper with the dagger, there is a huge explosion in which he is expected to have died by everyone. However, this is where the major twist lies as an injured Germain, on the verge of death, sends Trevor down the Infinite Corridor with the key that he was handed earlier. This is how Trevor finds himself on the Danube’s bank when he wakes up after which, much to the surprise of Sypha, and everyone else arrives two weeks later to Belmont.
