We are already familiar with other emperors of the sea and even know their power levels and abilities except for akagami Shanks. Shanks was the guy who sparked the flame in Luffy to sail through the ocean in search of One Piece but he is still the least explored character in the series. One Piece is a Japanese manga-based anime written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda and serialized in Weekly shonen magazine. The anime adaptation project of the manga was handed to Toei animation studio which produced some of the best-in-class anime i.e. Dragon Ball, Digimon, etc. The series is still in continuation with over 1000+ anime episodes and manga chapters. One Piece is also the largest selling manga in Japan and the rest of the world. The series is based on the major protagonist Luffy who accidentally ate a devil’s fruit and decided to become the Pirate King someday. He sails through the ocean in search of that treasure One Piece and recruits amazing crewmates along the way. Now let’s come to our main topic.
Who Is Shanks?
Can you imagine, the character who started the series is still the most unexplored character of the show? Shanks also known as Akagami or Red-Haired Shanks is one of the emperors of the sea and a well-known pirate in the new world. The shanks are also the captain of Red-Haired Pirates. Shanks is extremely skilled and the master of Haki. He even stopped the WhiteBeard’s saber with his sword. He stopped the greatest war with just one speech. Shanks was the former crewmate on Pirate King Gol D. Roger’s ship. Roger passed his hat to him which he later gave to Luffy and asks him to return it whenever they meet again in the New World. This is how he sparked the flame in Luffy to become Pirate King. We have seen many instances in the show when Shanks shows his mysterious side. Shanks also has some sort of connections with the World Government as we saw just before the Reverie. It is to be noted that, Shanks’s full powers and abilities are still unknown.
Will Shanks Die In One Piece?
Since there are a lot of things to discover about Shanks in the show so it is unlikely that he will die this soon. Shanks is extremely powerful and smart and has the most versatile crew so killing him won’t be a cup of tea even for a world-known pirate. There are many theories that predict that. Blackbeard aka Marshal D. Teach will kill Shanks in the end and will be the final obstacle for Luffy for the One Piece but personally, we don’t think, things will happen this way. We might see a fierce fight between Shanks and Teach. It is also a possibility that Shanks is the agent of World Government or the protector of One Piece but all these theories are mere opinions backed with no major context.
Shanks is one of the strongest characters of the series. The glimpse of his power and influence was seen when both the Marines and Blackbeard Crew chose to not engage the Red Haired Pirates while a fierce battle was ensuing. Shanks, without one Arm, walked into the strongest marines and pirates, presented an open challenge and no one dared. Shanks has maintained a reputation of honor among his enemies and he was seen gaining direct audience with the Elders. A great force and the power to reckon. It will be amazing to watch him fight.
The One Piece film Red is in the pipeline and we might see some great hints about Shanks in this movie later this year. All we have to do now is to wait patiently.
