Sasaki Isaburo was an elite member of a Samurai family, being a half-brother of Sasaki Tetsunosuke, who is treated like a menace. Isaburo was also known to be the commander of the Mimawarigumi, who is an elite police force commissioned in Kyoto. Isaburo is considered to be the main antagonist during the Baragaki Arc, where he showed his pure hatred towards the Shinsengumi. Still, he maintained their presence during the time it was established as a deal to save his family.
After his family’s demise by Mukuro’s hand, Sasaki decided to bring her in as an assistant to the Tendoshuu and the Hitotsubashi Faction as he planned to revolt against the corrupted Bakufu and Tendoshu in order to reclaim Edo. Sasaki’s Appearance
To be clear, Isaburo is a tall guy with grey colored hair. Talking about facial features, the character has a pale or dead-looking eye. The only outfit he’s seen wearing most of the time is the Mimawarigumi uniform, along with a monocle. The only difference in his uniform than others is that he wears a long trenchcoat which goes with the shirt.
Before entering the Mimawarigumi squad, Isaburo used to wear topical Samurai clothes with a hori outside. To complete the outfit, he used to match it with a sedge hat.

Sasaki Isaburo’s Personality
Talking about his nature, Isaburo is a very collected, cool, yet highly serious person. May it be any situation he will not change, even if he’s in great danger. Just to take it as an example, we can talk about how calm he was when he got stabbed by a Naraku Assassin. During that time, we could see him casually telling Shimura Shinpachi and Kagura to stand back as if nothing happen. The only thing that bothered him was the bloodstain as he recently got the old curry stain of the uniform the other day.
Apart from his usual sarcastic nature, Sasaki is also shown as an arrogant person in a few aspects. As the commander, he considers himself as an elite and far better than other people. Apart from this, Isaburo is also shown to have an extremely ruthless attitude where it feels like he might kill anyone.
Will Sasaki Isaburo Die in Gintama?
Sasaki Isaburo does die in episode 315 of anime. The episode shows the time when he reached the ship’s entrance, Sasaki ends up giving his life to save Nobume and Tetsu and manages to defeat the still-alive assassins. Isaburo’s final moments were him giving his last smile, be living that that Nobume had gained all the qualities he had wished for his daughter. His last words before dying quoted, “I’m glad I believed. You’ve lots of friends, you get along so well with everyone, and you’re kind and stubborn, Nobume-san. My email has finally been delivered.”
