From the very beginning of Naruto until its dramatic finale in Naruto Shippuden, there have been several great villains. Orochimaru, one of the three Legendary Sanin famed for his many snake assaults and experiments, is one of the most noteworthy foes in both series. This brings us to the question, will Orochimaru die in Naruto? Shippuden sees the villainous Orochimaru take a back role early on in the series. Orochimaru may be but in the back of your mind if you’ve not watched Naruto Shippuden.
He is a former ninja from the village of Konohagakure who is well-known for his talents as a ninja. The third Sannin and a former member of the terrorist group Akatsuki, he is one of the most feared ninjas. With a life goal of discovering all of the world’s secrets, Orochimaru desires immortality so that he might live all of his lifetimes. Orochimaru ran away from Konoha for his ambitions after performing unethical experiments. He sought the village’s destruction in order to exact revenge and demonstrate what he had learned.
After multiple supposed deaths in pursuit of his ambitions, Orochimaru realizes his strategy is flawed. With the help of his old accomplice, Kabuto Yakushi, and his former student, Sasuke Uchiha, he then starts taking a laid-back view on things.
Is Orochimaru going to die in Naruto? Yes, but there’s a catch
During the chunin exams, Orochimaru comes close to death during the Konoha Crush arc. Hiruzen, to defend Konoha, decides to use the Dead Demon Consuming Seal to stop Orochimaru. He proceeds to lock away the souls of the two Hokage before going after Orochimaru himself. Not wanting to get sealed inside the Reaper’s stomach, Orochimaru attacked Hiruzen through the back of his chest with his Sword of Kusanagi. However, Hiruzen decides to merely seal a portion of Torchmark’s soul within his arms.
Orochimaru escapes with the Sound Four who was cursing the dying Hiruzen for almost killing him and stripping him of his use of ninjutsu. From a technical standpoint of a ninja, this was one of the instances where Orochimaru died. Hiruzen basically killed a part of Orochimaru.
Soon after Orochimaru’s body started rotting away, he had no choice but to use Living Corpse Reincarnation. Though the act reversed the majority of the damage done by the Dead Demon Consuming Seal, it still rendered Orochimaru unable to execute techniques that required hand seals. Sasuke Uchiha kills Orochimaru in Naruto Shippuden Episode 114, “Eye of the Hawk.” His death, on the other hand, is not that clear.
During the episode, Sasuke arrives to kill Orochimaru before attempting to take over the body of the young Uchiha. During their battle, the Legendary Sanin tries to transfer his soul. However, Sasuke is too strong and rejects the Jutsu, killing Orochimaru to end the fight.
Will Orochimaru die in Naruto?
Despite the fact that his body was destroyed, Orochimaru was not totally slain in this battle. He was trapped inside the curse mark as a result of the battle. Because of Sasuke’s tiredness and lack of chakra, Orochimaru reappears during Sasuke’s battle with Itachi. During the struggle with Itachi, Sasuke ran out of chakra, and Orochimaru used his Eight Branches Technique to break free from his cursed seal.
He was happy at the fact that soon he could take over Sasuke’s body, but Itachi had hurt him using his Susano. Orochimaru first claimed that it would take more than that to kill him. After the attack by Itachi, he was hurt by the Totsuka Sword. Itachi using his Susanoo, was successful in sealing Orochimaru. Thus erasing Sasuke’s cursed seal in the process. However, three white snakes were trying to escape from Orochimaru’s corpse.
Fourth Shinobi World War: Orochimaru completely revived!
Following Kabuto’s defeat and his reunion with Suigetsu Hzuki and Jugo, Sasuke hears about the scroll they discovered in one of Orochimaru’s hideouts and decides to resurrect him in order to find answers, based on what he learned from Itachi. Sasuke is successful in resurrecting Orochimaru by transferring his mind from Anko’s cursed seal into the physical body.
Following the end of the war, Orochimaru would resume his genetic experimentation. He also struck a deal with Konoha and the Five Great Nations. All the nations had come to accept the offer. However, in exchange for rigorous 24-hour monitoring by Konoha jonin. Orochimaru could roam freely since the shinobis were watching over him all the time.
