Game of Thrones is the biggest television series of this century because it is every aspect is just perfect. It has been revealed that HBO wanted the creators of Game of Thrones to run its final season for at least 10 episodes but unfortunately, that didn’t bode well for the showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff.
It is believed that HBO had offered everything they could to the showrunners of Game of Thrones but they just didn’t want season 8 to go beyond 6 episodes. When the writer George R. R. Martin was asked the same question he said that you need to ask this question to Dan Weiss and David Benioff as he doesn’t make the show but writes novels.
He said that there was enough content that could have been adapted by the showrunners but they skipped some of the good bits. He also said that there is content enough for 13 seasons in total let alone not being able to make 10 episodes in season 8. George R. R. Martin also said that he intends to continue writing and there are about five Game of Thrones spinoffs already in production which is a piece of awesome news for fans.
Nonetheless, it all comes down to Dan Weiss and David Benioff who just didn’t want to make 10 long episodes. It seems that not even more money offered by HBO was able to lure them. It seems that they just wanted to show to be over so they can enjoy their time off.
Also, it doesn’t make sense because apart from the first two episodes of season 8 which are around 50 minutes long the rest of the four are about 1 hour 20 minutes long. Which also hints that they could have easily stretched it to about 10 episodes.
So, it all comes down to Dan Weiss and David Benioff just wanting the series to be over. But that doesn’t mean that they have made any compromises with the production of the show. The story is going to have an awesome ending and the season 8 will surely be the best of the rest mostly because of the sheer number of deaths we are about to witness.
It is amazing that the show is ending because it seems that it was just yesterday when we all began talking about the buzz that Game of Thrones made with its first season. So, Game of Thrones fans should not be too upset as the spinoffs will be on their way as the show ends. Game of Thrones season 8 episode 1 will be released April 14.
