Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie – Plot Summary
Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen 0, animated by MAPPA, first premiered in Japanese theatres on 24 December 2021. The story revolves around the “supposedly actual” main character, Yuta Okkotsu. Being a cursed spirit and the descendant of the Big Three Vengeful Spirit of Japan, Yuta is second in rank after Gojo Satoru.
The first time he was brought to Jujutsu High is the same as Itadori Yuji. His cursed spirit, Rika-chan, was his childhood friend and lover. When Rika dies, Yuta couldn’t accept that and unknowingly curses Rika. Soon after, Rika never left Yuta’s side. Whenever and whoever disturbed Yuta, Rika came out and got them. This had actually made Yuta an introvert who does not take upon any conversation. More like, he is scared someone might get hurt while trying to befriend them.
Yuta wasn’t able to understand Rika, not until he entered Jujutsu High. He, in a long time, was able to laugh it off with his friends – Maki, Panda, and Toge. While Geto infiltrated the Jujutsu High, Gojo was kept afar and couldn’t arrive in time. However, there Yuta and Rika’s teamwork defeats Geto and hence, marks the end of the movie.
