Sean Bean, whom many of you might remember for his role as Ned Stark in HBO’s Game of Thrones, starred in this 1993 British period war drama. It is about a soldier who fights in the Napoleonic Wars. His name is Richard Sharpe, a brave soldier based upon the novels by Bernard Cornwell. This product was developed by ITV under the Picture Palace Films and Celtic Films production companies, who delivered a period masterpiece with great photography. In consequence, today we shall mention the Sharpe is filmed.

Over the course of the series, we see Sharpe rising through the ranks as his feats of bravery in combat are evident. As he progresses in the field and rises in the ranks, we also get to see his love life. A troubled one, as we shall see when we tell you a little about the plot in this article. Now without any further ado, let’s begin!

Plot
Richard Sharpe is a sergeant serving in the 95th Rifles at the start of the series, stationed in Portugal during the Peninsular War in 1809. When Sharpe saves General Sir Arthur Wellesley’s life from a bunch of French cavalrymen, Wellesley offers Sharpe a battlefield commission and makes him a lieutenant. Sharpe is given command of a 95th Rifles unit of elite “selected soldiers.” Patrick Harper becomes his closest buddy and is promoted to sergeant, then sergeant major. Wellesley and his numerous spymasters, beginning with Major Michael Hogan and on to Major Nairn, Major Mungo Monroe, and Major General Ross, see Sharpe as a very talented and crafty commander and assign him increasingly more significant assignments. Despite their support, he must overcome the severe prejudice of aristocrats (who often owe their army posts to money and social ties rather than military talent) against an unrefined commoner recruited from the ranks.
He meets a number of deadly foes, including French Major Pierre Ducos and Colonel Sir Henry Simmerson, and meets one from his previous duty in India, Sergeant Obadiah Hakeswill. Sharpe’s achievements propel him forward, and by the conclusion of the Napoleonic Wars, at the Battle of Waterloo, he is Lieutenant-Colonel Sharpe. Sharpe had a lot of relationships along the road. He married Teresa Moreno, a Spanish guerilla commander, with whom he had a daughter. Hakeswill murders Teresa. Sharpe then marries Jane Gibbons, who abandons him, wastes his money, and has a lover. He eventually marries Lucille Castineau, a Frenchwoman who dies some years after Napoleon’s ultimate defeat.
