Amazon Prime’s drama series Hanna created a huge fanbase as soon as it hit the internet. And only after two weeks of the release of the second season, Amazon announced that Hanna would be getting a third season soon. Now it has been more than a year, and season three is supposed to be on its way. The creator of the show is David Farr, who is also known as the theatrical director and Associate Director of the Royal Shakespeare. He has also created shows like Troy, Paani, and The Man Of Iron Heart spoke up about the ongoing work on the show.
The old cast is rumored to be back to the new season. Mireille Enos will be coming back as Marissa Wiegler, and Esmé Creed-Miles will be coming back as Hanna. Dermot Mulroney will also be making a comeback as John Carmichael. Áine Rose Daly will be coming as Sandy Phillips. Joel Kinnaman is also reprising his role as Erik Heller, along with Cherrelle Skeete coming back as Terri Miller. No new cast is rumored to join the show.
When And Where Did Hanna Come From?
Season one of Hanna hit the OTT platform Amazon Prime back in 2019. But it wasn’t the first time for Hanna herself. In 2011, Hanna starring Saoirse Ronan, came to the big screen as an assassin and the daughter of an ex-CIA agent. She came to work and finish her mission in Europe. People were already head over heels for the thrill that movie gave. But the TV show came up with all new gritty and grounded missions. The first two episodes of the show are similar to the movie, but as it goes on, the story becomes more complicated and amazing.
Each season contains eight episodes, each capturing Hanna’s story perfectly and keeping the viewers on edge. In the movie, Hanna’s mission is to track down and kill the ruthless CIA operative Marissa Wiegler. But the show begins with the kidnapping of Hanna and how she got stuck in the mission.
What Happened In The Final Episode?
Hanna is stopped Sandy from killing Kat Gelder, but Robert Gelder died before leaking Utrax’s paper to the media. As Hanna gets away with the documents with Marissa, Utrax tries to catch them by staging their rescue. At the villa, Carla and Kat over smarts Leo and kill Grant, and injures Carmichael in the shoulder. It is revealed that Carmichael was exposed to Utrax as he gave hints to Gelder. Marissa blackmails him to get back in Utrax’s team along with Hanna. It becomes more complicated as Utrax is revealed as Terri and tries to save Clara and her mother by deleting evidence.
Clara and her mother in the season finale by deleting evidence, aka the people behind Utrax program. They have identified a list of young people who could potentially threaten their power in the future. As they have no problem with murdering kids, they aren’t shying away to show a willingness to both kidnap and murder babies. The show ends with a “So, what now” leaves so many conspiracy theories to rise up for the new season.
When Is The Season 3 Coming?
Talking to the writer and creator, Farr revealed that there isn’t any particular date set for the release of season 3 yet. He is very excited for everybody to gather and work on the production. He also said that he is grateful to Amazon and NBCU for continuing the amazing show. Talking about the show and its storyline, he said that when they started out on Hanna’s journey, he had a drama in his mind that would excavate Hanna’s past. It will challenge her in entirely new ways and answer the question: can she ever belong. He also thanked Esmé Creed-Miles and Mireille Enos as they are continuing their roles. They are enormous talents who are very important for the characters as we take Hanna and Marissa into new and unexplored terrain. He said it’s going to be an exciting third act.
