Supergirl has already been confirmed to be returning with its fourth season. The third season of the series began airing back in October 2017, and there was a short break after the show aired 13 episodes. The show returned in April 2018 after and wrapped up in June 2018. The production of the show began quickly, and it was finished on time.
CW president, Mark Pedowitz explained the break. He said, “There was a little bit of a production delay. We knew we were never going to air five superhero shows [at the same time]. ‘Okay, there’s a production delay, let them figure it out, don’t worry about it, we put Legends in, so we’ll run Legends, and then we’ll put Supergirl right after it. Supergirl running into the summer is actually better programming for us year-round.”
The fourth season of the show was renewed along with several other big names such as The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Arrow, and Black Lightning, etc. Mark Pedowitz talked about the renewals in an interview. He said, “As The CW expands to a six-night, Sunday through Friday schedule next season, we are proud to have such a deep bench of great returning series for 2018-19. By picking these ten series up for next season, we have a terrific selection of programming to choose from when we set our fall schedule in May, with more still to come.”
