In 2020, Guy Fieri went from a walking meme to a national star. While Guy will always be popular for his spikes and sunglasses, he is now being praised for his humanitarian efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic that hit the world. Back in May 2020, it was proclaimed that Guy had helped raise more than $22 million for restaurant owners and industry workers in need. Guy and several others teamed up to create the Restaurant Employee Support Fund, which has helped more than 43,000 affected restaurants.

You can find out more about this in Guy’s new documentary called Guy Restaurant Hustle 2020: All on the Line, recently published on the Food Network. While Guy’s generosity might surprise some who thought the food show host was boisterous and persistent, fans weren’t really surprised. Guy was not only a loving man, but he also faced great losses. Witnessing the kindness his family underwent when his sister battled cancer as a child, Guy was inspired to pursue the same path after Morgan’s death. “Nothing lessens the pain of being there, but it does cover it up a bit when you can get your attention on something else. As a parent, you don’t want to think that your child is sick and the times when your child is happy, and they smile, it means a lot,” Guy said. Later through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, he will invite all affected families of cancer patients to his show broadcast.

How did Guy deal with the Tragedy?

Guy commented that he knew to some extent what this family was going through. “I know and see this grief, and if there is anything I can do to educate or empower these children, I want to do it,” he said. His motive for inviting the entire family of a cancer patient? He didn’t want the child to feel lonely or separated. He also went to Florida and presided over the weddings of 101 same-sex couples (during the South Beach Wine and Food Festival) in Morgan’s honor.

Guy doesn’t talk about Morgan often, but he does post a photo in her memory, usually once a year, on February 19 (the day she died). “Life is short; evaluate every day and tell your friends and family that you love them. I miss my sister so much. Namaste Morgan!” he wrote on Instagram in 2016 and shared a photo of Morgan and Jules. I miss my sister Morgan. You continue to inspire us all. We love you! Namaste,” Guy wrote in February 2020, sharing a photo of his sister and parents. Apparently, Morgan’s spirit lives on in Guy’s efforts and endeavors.
