The recently released Boruto Chapter 64 ended with an unexpected cliffhanger. Boruto engaged Code in a fight and was doing pretty well till he fell to the ground with pain in his chest. He is in no condition to continue the fight any longer and can barely get back on his feet. What happened to Boruto? Is this the side effect of Amado’s Byakugan suppressing pills?
Thankfully, Naruto managed to pinpoint Boruto’s location in the forest. Knowing that Code can be a serious threat, Shikamaru tagged along with Naruto. Even Hinata tried to accompany them but was asked to stay back for the sake of Himawari. Can Kawaki protect him till Naruto and Shikamaru arrive to escort them back to the village? Here, we bring you everything that you need to know.
Boruto vs. Code Fight
In that fateful fight, Boruto started unleashing his karma powers without losing his control to Momoshiki. His strength, speed, and endurance have been enhanced exponentially, and he kept up with Code pretty well. Code explained that it is because of inheriting Momishiki’s millennia-long battle experience. Well, great powers always come at a high price. Every time Boruto resorts to the Momoshiki powers, he is supposed to lose control of his own body.
Surprisingly, Boruto’s chakra absorbing powers are inactive against Code’s claw marks. It’s more like a blend of his chakra and the high iron content of his blood. Despite all that, Kawaki and Boruto held their grounds pretty well till Boruto went down with chest pain.
What is Happening to Boruto?
Even Eida doesn’t know what’s exactly is happening inside Boruto’s body. The chest pain started as Boruto was trying to harness more powers from his karma. This makes me believe that it has something to do with his half Otsutsuki transformation. I have two theories in mind that could have caused such a backlash to Boruto.
Amado’s Byakugan Suppressing Pills
Byakugan is one of many distinctive Otsutsuki features. Thus, Amado thought that his Byakugan suppressing pills would slow down Boruto’s Otsutsuki transformation. He even warned Naruto about the side effects of these untested pills. It may result in something as trifle as a blurry vision to something as serious as death.
Now, Boruto has been taking those pills for quite a few days. Naruto tried explaining the risks, but he believed that slowing down the transformation was the best he could do. The pills helped in keeping Boruto’s consciousness alive even when Momoshiki took over him. What if this chest pain is the side effect Amado was talking about? We still have no official confirmation about it. I guess the upcoming chapter will give us a clearer picture of what’s really happening to him.

Momoshiki Trying to Control Boruto
In Boruto Chapter 64, we see how Momoshiki took over Boruto’s body once again. However, Boruto somehow managed to suppress his consciousness and kept drawing more powers from his karma. Remember how Naruto’s Kyuubi chakra used to harm him in his initial days? There’s a high probability that Boruto’s backlash is a price for pushing his Otsutsuki powers. His body isn’t durable enough to handle so much power.
Moreover, suppressing Momoshiki’s conscience forcibly isn’t something that he took very sporting. A tug of war can be happening between Boruto and Momoshiki, thereby resulting in a sudden backlash. Sadly, there’s isn’t much evidence to support this theory.
How Will Boruto Survive?
There’s no way Kawaki can take on Code singlehandedly. Thus, Boruto’s only hope of survival is to keep Code busy till someone else shows up for help. Naruto and Shikamaru have already tracked down his location and are on their way to the rescue. On the other hand, Sasuke is surveying the area too. He may have lost his Rinnegan, but his tactical intelligence is still unrivaled, so he can also be the one to save Boruto. If no one shows up to help in time, Kawaki may end up going with his initial plan of handing over himself to Eida. If Eida asks Code to return with Kawaki, Code will have no other option but to follow him.
