And the center of it all is Shoutarou Kaneda, who leads a Motorcycle gang known as, “The Capsules”. They are known as a group of teenage misfits who ride custom-made motorcycles and fight with their rival gang, “The Clowns”. One day during one of their Brawls with the clown gang, Kaneda’s friend Tetsuo met with an accident. And encountered a boy named Takashi, who was a runaway patient from the same government research facility that Akira was from. At the accident site, the members of the capsules arrive, and with them arrives the Military force.

Both of them are captured by colonel Shikishima and are taken to the research facility. On the other hand, Kaneda and his gang are taken by the police. At the police station, Kaneda meets Kei and falls in love with her. When the police let go of Kaneda and his gang, he takes Kei with him. As soon they get out Kei disappears, without even telling Kaneda her name. Later he encounters her and then he gets to know about the secret government organization that is keeping his friend Tetsuo. Is Akira Movie based on the Manga?

The creator of the Akira movie is also the Creator of the manga from which the movie is adapted. The manga was also titled, “Akira” and it won the 8th Kodansha Manga award in the general category. There were some controversies related to the release of the movie as the manga was not finished serializing at the time. With the help of scriptwriter Nelson Machado, director Otomo finished his story for the movie. On basis of manga, the movie lacks the end conviction. But overall the movie was still made pretty good in terms of animation and setting of the Dystopian world.
