Sheryl Sandberg
Is Stepping Down as META COO
The CEO and founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, recruited Sandberg to his social network in 2008.
The Facebook chief growth officer Javier Olivan will take over Sandberg's position.
“Over the next few months, Mark and I will transition my direct reports,” Sandberg said
Sandberg's decision to step down from the company was her own decision.
“I don’t plan to replace Sheryl’s role in our existing structure. I’m not sure that would be possible since she’s a superstar who defined the COO role in her own unique way,” Zuckerberg said.
Sandberg said that her decision to leave the company would allow her to focus on her philanthropic work.
