Waiting for rain is another movie by Kang Ha Neul. And we already know how versatile his roles are usually. Even in his movie, he doesn’t fail to impress us with his amazing acting skills. The ending of the drama is something that will simply melt your heart. The entire movie doesn’t show us the cliche romance, but actually, focuses on something purer, and turns out even the old school romance can be this heart-touching. How much pain is there in waiting for your love, how miserable could it feel to be waiting for something unknown and unexpected is something the movie dealt with in detail.
Towards the end of the movie, we saw how shattered Young Ho feels after knowing that So-Yeon had already died. After a long wait of 8 years, Young Ho gets to know the news and feels completely devastated. Still, now he doesn’t know that So-hee was the one who was actually addressing these letters on behalf of her sick sister. When all rays of hope felt like closing down, something miraculous happened. Even due to certain circumstances, the last letter wasn’t opened by So-hee.
But somehow So-hee finally opened the letter and to her astonishment got to know that Young Ho decided to wait for her every 31st December. That day also happened to be Soo Hee’s birthday, and she decided to give a chance of going to Seoul, thinking he might still be waiting. In the end, it rained on 31st December, and Young Ho ran towards the bench. While even So-hee took a turn to reach the same destination. The very last still of a car entering the park shows an imaginative ending, and we want to believe things went our way.
