Upcoming Marvel Movies In 2022-23

With Spider-Man No Way Home’s grand success even in the pandemic era, Marvel fans who stopped watching Marvel movies after Avengers Endgame is returning to Marvel. I mean why not, No Way Home was a dream-like movie that gave us a literal heaven-like experience. Other 2021 MCU movies didn’t get the same reception from fans. But 2022 and 2023 are going to be wonderful for Marvel fans, huge blockbusters sequels are lined up. I’m personally very excited for Dr. Strange, Thor, and Spiderverse sequels.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is what most people think of when they think of Marvel movies. The MCU, on the other hand, does not include all of the Marvel films that will be released in the coming years. Sony Pictures Entertainment still owns some Marvel movie rights, and while they have a continuous connection with Marvel and Disney, it’s unclear how their films will fit into the MCU at this time.

Throughout 2020 and early 2021, the epidemic forced Marvel and the MCU to postpone several projects. They aren’t back in full force yet, despite the fact that 2022 is already shaping up to be a busy year for Marvel productions. Beyond the planned releases, there are more spin-offs, reboots, and sequels in the works.  Disney, along with other studios that have managed to retain the rights to select Marvel properties, can be counted on to continue to enhance the development of its Marvel products.

Marvel Studios

The Avengers in the Infinity Saga was such a huge hit that they’ve changed the way people think about movies in the future. Importantly, the increased likelihood of success has encouraged studios to be more inclined to cast characters that are not played by cisgender straight men in the lead roles.

Most significantly, this has aided in the development of Eternals and Shang-Chi And The Legend of the Ten Rings, the latter of which may finally address Disney’s long-standing LGBTQ+ issue. Marvel Studios is now collaborating with directors who have distinct tones and styles, giving them more creative power and resulting in a larger spectrum of atmospheres in Marvel films. Marvel films are leading the charge in the cinematic superhero genre, which is continuously developing. From 2022 to 2023, each Marvel film will be released.

Morbius: 1 April 2022

In Zack Snyder’s Justice League, he reprised his role as The Joker. In a position that should provide him more screen time, Jared Leto is returning to the realm of comic books. After multiple delays, Sony’s Morbius feature is wrapped and will be released in early April. It was supposed to be released in January, but Sony wants to capitalize on Andrew Garfield’s Spider-popularity and make some money. To include Andrew’s Spider-Man into their Sony universe, they undoubtedly conducted some reshoots.

Morbius

Michael Morbius, played by Jared Leto, is a doctor who tries to cure himself of a rare blood ailment but develops vampire-like characteristics, including a need for human blood, in the process. Morbius is directed by Daniel Espinosa and stars Matt Smith as the malevolent Loxias Crown, who has previously appeared in Doctor Who. Jared Harris, Adria Arjona, Tyrese Gibson, and Michael Keaton (who appears to be repeating his role as Adrian Toomes) round out the remainder of the cast. Morbius, like Venom, appears to be a partnership between Marvel Studios and Sony, as Keaton’s appearance in the picture reveals.

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness: 6 May 2022

After losing from a teenager in a battle of Magic Vs Maths Doctor Strange will be returning in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. He tried to help some random teenager (does anyone know who that teenager was because he was throughout the No Way Home), but now he has to face its consequences. There are a lot of rumors (really a lot) about the cameos it will be featuring like Deadpool, Tobey’s Spider-man, Tom Cruise’s Ironman, Leonardo DiCaprio’s Spider-Man and the list just goes on and on. I’m just keeping my eyes and ears closed, cuz I just wanna be surprised when they show. But yeah Patrick Stewart’s Professor Xavier is confirmed to make a cameo.

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness

Doctor Strange’s second solo journey won’t be wholly alone, thanks to Sam Raimi’s involvement, who will helm from a scenario by Jade Bartlett and Michael Waldron of Loki. Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. Scarlet Witch, will play a significant role in the plot, resolving some of WandaVision’s setups. The majority of the plot, however, remains a mystery.

While Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was initially supposed to be a horror film, it was eventually changed to a comedy. Scott Derickson abandoned the project when it became evident that he couldn’t make it the terror that he desired, therefore this seems implausible. In one of their previous episodes, And What If…? looked at a horror version of Doctor Strange. The events of Loki, WandaVision, and Spider-Man: No Way Home are likely to have a significant impact on the plot.

Thor: Love And Thunder’: 8 July 2022

Thor: Love and Thunder is the first time the Asgardian warrior has gotten a fourth solo film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Taika Waititi, who directed Thor: Ragnarok, returns to write alongside Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and direct the film. Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman, will return to the MCU in Love and Thunder. Jane will take on the role of Thor’s female counterpart, while new Asgardian king Valkyrie is on the lookout for her queen.

Thor Love And Thunder

Gorr the God Butcher played by Christian Bale will act as the core source of conflict, with several other well-known faces flitting in and out of the plot. We also see the team Guardian Of The Galaxy at the beginning of the movie because Thor was on an adventure with them at the end of Avengers Endgame. Most of the fans are extremely excited for this one, because first of all, he is one of the great trio (which includes Ironman and Captain America), and secondly after a hilarious third part, Thor: Love And Thunder ain’t gonna disappoint.

‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’: 11 November 2022

Black Panther, directed by Ryan Coogler, immediately became one of the most popular Marvel films of all time, despite the fact that its foreign box office was nothing near that of Avengers: Infinity War. There’s no questioning Marvel Studios’ box office and critical success. So it’s no surprise that Coogler is returning to direct Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Black Panther Wakanda Forever

There are no plans to recast the role following Chadwick Boseman’s tragic death. Boseman’s likeness will not be added to the film via CGI, according to the production team. As is customary this far out from its summer 2022 release, plot details are limited, but it will almost certainly feature Shuri ascending to the throne of Black Panther. Namor the Sub-Mariner, on the other hand, is rumored to be joining the MCU in the Black Panther sequel. There are also reports that Doctor Doom will appear in this film.

‘Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse (Part One)’: 7 October 2022

This is the film I’m most looking forward to seeing because it features numerous Spider-Man characters, fantastic animation, and, of course, humor. I’m hoping Sony brings Spider-Ham back because he was the one who nearly killed me with laughter. The animation technique is shown in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which was released in December 2018 and rapidly became one of the most beloved superhero films ever made, requiring several years to develop in addition to the storyline.

Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse

Sony Pictures disclosed plans for a sequel to Into the Spider-Verse shortly before the film’s release. Into the Spider-Verse set up two sequels, allowing Miles Morales’ tale to branch out in numerous directions. Spider-Man: Across the Universe, The release date for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has been set for 2022. It will feature a Japanese Spider-Man, possibly an Indian Spider-Man, and undoubtedly Spider-Man 2099.

The Marvels: 17 February 2023

Captain Marvel’s first expedition was a huge success, even if it wasn’t as big as Avengers: Endgame. As a result, it’s no surprise that Carol Danvers, played by Brie Larson, will be back for a sequel near the end of 2022. As is customary for Marvel, little is known about Captain Marvel 2’s narrative thus far out. It will, however, take place in the twenty-first century. Carol will also join forces with a grown-up Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau in the sequel, which has been officially renamed The Marvels.

In the Ms. Marvel Disney+ series, the latter will make her debut, and the two will team up to take on Zawe Ashton’s unknown adversary. Megan McDonnell of WandaVision has written the script, which will be directed by Nia DaCosta.

Kraven The Hunter: 13 January 2023

Kraven the Hunter will join the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters, following in the footsteps of Venom and Morbius. The concept for a solo film was first proposed in 2018. By 2020, Richard Wenk had written the script, which was later rewritten by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. J.C. Chandor was soon in talks to direct the film. It’s worth noting, though, that in the months that followed, little was spoken regarding possible advancements.

However, in May 2021, production took a big step forward when Aaron Taylor-Johnson was cast in the lead role of Kraven. Given his earlier turn as Pietro Maximoff, the change has raised countless questions regarding the film’s potential place in the MCU’s multiverse.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3: 3 May 2023

Director James Gunn was sacked by Disney after racist remarks he posted on Twitter years ago resurfaced, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has had a bumpy route to production. Gunn was eventually rehired after a groundswell of support from both fans and coworkers. He was hired by Warner Bros. to helm The Suicide Squad, but not before.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

From there, Gunn quickly moved on to a Peacemaker TV spinoff starring John Cena. As a result, filming on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to begin in the late months of 2021. As a result, we won’t see the crew again for a time, and any tale details won’t be divulged until then. After their cameo appearances in Thor: Love and Thunder, the entire cast has been confirmed to return. It has been said that this is going to be the last guardian movie and the main character is also going to die, probably Rocket.

‘Ant-Man And The Wasp Quantumania’: 28 July 2023

After coming from Ant-Man and The Wasp, Scott and Hope van Dyne were confirmed for a third outing. The duo will once again be joined by Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet van Dyne and Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym. Even though Emma Fuhrmann in Avengers: Endgame played the character of Cassie Lang, it will be continued by Kathryn Newton. Filming has already commenced in England, with an early 2023 release date established.

Peyton Reed directed the film once more, working on a script written by Jeff Loveness, who also wrote Rick and Morty. With the MCU debut of renowned Marvel villain Kang the Conqueror, the tiny superheroes will face their most difficult test yet.

 2023 Unannounced MCU Movies

After rearranging its schedule in October 2021, Marvel still has one unassigned MCU release date in 2023. On November 3, 2023, that date will be reached. When this slot is revealed, there are various alternatives for movies that could occupy it. Captain America 4, Deadpool 3, and even the proposed mutant feature are less likely alternatives. Blade and the MCU’s Fantastic Four revival are the two most likely candidates.

Blade’s script is written by Stacy Osei-Kuffour, and Mahershala Ali, an Oscar winner, has been cast as the titular vampire-slaying hero. After Easter eggs indicated at Blade’s existence in Loki, the MCU is dropping a lot of signs that Blade isn’t far away. And then it was proven that Mahershala Ali’s Blade was the voice speaking to Black Knight in Eternals.

Upcoming Marvel Movies In 2022-23

Fantastic Four

The next Fantastic Four revival comes after two disappointing incarnations of the franchise in recent years. In 2005 and 2007, Fantastic Four and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer were released, followed by a reboot in 2015. Kevin Feige, on the other hand, confirmed in 2019 that the group would be joining the MCU. Because it is being directed by Jon Watts, who previously directed the Tom Holland Spider-Man films, there is reason to believe that this iteration will break the curse.

Spider-Man Upcoming Trilogy

In keeping with the theme of Spider-Man and his friends, Tom Holland has been confirmed to reprise his role as Spider-Man in the upcoming film. Not only in future Avengers films but also in a standalone Spider-Man trilogy. Some speculated that Spider-Man: No Way Home would be Holland’s final solo film as the web-slinger, but this announcement contradicts that speculation.

While both Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, played by Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans, had only three solo appearances before exiting the MCU, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is on track to break that record. It’s likely that this will lead to more Sony cooperation. As well as the debut of some of the other characters who have taken on the “spider” mantle over time.

Upcoming Marvel Movies In 2022-23

Spider-Man 4

Little is known about the plots or release dates for these films, and both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Sony Spider-Man Villain Universe are likely to undergo significant alterations before Tom Holland returns to the big screen for his next solo film.

While its development has been clouded for some time, Sony still appears to be planning a Sinister Six feature in the future, with several of their already slated projects pointing in that direction. There are certainly more Marvel films in the works that will be released at a later date, but fans have a lot to look forward to for the time being.
