Hey everyone! Today we’re going to talk about the historical drama called ‘Peaky Blinders,’ Season 5. In December 2017, we saw a great Season 4 finale episode with a face-off between Shelby clan and mob leader Luca Changretta; this makes one think what’s in store for Thomas Shelby’s family and the empire that he built.
Now you must at this point know that BBC ordered a fifth series of the show back in May of 2016 only. This renewal was for both 4th and 5th series together. It is important to tell you that ‘Peaky Blinders’ has moved from BBC2 to BBC One. Fair warning: Spoilers ahead.
If you’ve seen Season 4 of the series, you must know that John Shelby didn’t survive. Tommy and his company of men largely survived. The show creator Stephen Knight, I’ve heard is planning 6th and 7th Seasons’ together.
I’ve even heard the show’s going to make a stop at 7th Season. But before, we must talk of the present. So what do we know about the next in line, i.e., the fifth Season of the series?
‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 5: Key Details
Creator Stephen Knight spoke about The ‘Peaky Blinders’ recently. According to him, “My ambition is to make it a story of a family between two wars, so always I’ve wanted to end it with the first air raid siren in Birmingham in 1939. It’ll take three more series [to reach that point].”
‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 5: Release Date
After audiences were done watching Season 4 finale episode, it was confirmed by BBC that we’d get Season 5 in 2019. Nothing further was talked about. Season 4 if you may remember started in November last year and had been filmed starting March of 2017. It has been reported that Season 5 will go into production in the fall of 2018. So shouldn’t we expect it to be out by Summer of 2019?
The series might very well screen later than I expected it to. Whatever happens remains to be seen, of course.
‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 5: Cast
Obviously, we won’t be seeing any more of Joe Cole. Other recurring characters might be seen in the series. Here’s the main cast of the show:
Cillian Murphy (Tommy Shelby)
Helen McCrory (Polly Gray)
Paul Anderson (Arthur Shelby)
Sophie Rundle (Ada Thorne)
Finn Cole (Michael Gray).
And below is the supporting cast:
Lizzie Starke (Natasha O’Keeffe)
Arthur’s wife, Linda Shelby (Kate Phillips)
May Carleton (Charlotte Riley)
Again, nothing has been made official by the creators at BBC regarding the cast. We’ll update this page as soon as we have more information on the cast.
‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 5: Plot
Now Tommy has been elected as an MP making Shelby’s the most powerful clan of all. Arthur we know has political connections. Actor Paul Anderson spoke about his character Arthur recently. According to Paul Arthur’s not going to be a politician, it’s just the political ties he has. It’s only Tommy who’s a politician, and Arthur’s connections will strengthen Tommy’s positions, is all.
Creator Stephen Knight has spoken of the timeline of the show; that the show is heading into ’30’s. The Great Depression, Fascism, etc. will all form part of the storyline according to him.
