The fans of Orange is the New Black had been waiting for quite some time to get the sixth season. But, when it was finally confirmed, there was some really good news that accompanied it. The good news was that the show was renewed for a seventh season as well. Netflix had renewed the show for three seasons, which took it to the right up to season seven. Showrunner Jenji Kohan has also committed to staying with the show until season seven.
Orange Is The New Black Season 7 Release Date
The sixth season was released earlier on July 27, and it has set up things nicely for the seventh season. Previously we had got almost every season in June but, season six was moved to July, and it looks like that Netflix will now be sticking to the July slot. So, we can expect the show to come out in July 2019.
Orange Is The New Black Season 7 Cast & Updates
The cast of the seventh season is quite easy to figure as there were no major deaths in season six. So, we have a good idea of who’s returning for season seven.
Taylor Schilling as Piper Chapman
Kate Mulgrew as Galina Reznikov
Uzo Aduba as Suzanne
Danielle Brooks as Taystee
Dale Soules as Frieda
Natasha Lyonne as Nicky
Dascha Polanco as Daya
Schilling has hinted that she will probably be leaving the show in season seven. She said, “I’m so grateful to have been able to play this part of Piper. I’m excited to let Piper go and put her to rest beautifully, as I’m sure [creator Jenji Kohan] will do, and let her live on in her world when that time comes.”
Kohan has hinted that the seventh season will probably be the last for the show. She said, “I haven’t made a final decision yet, but I’m leaning toward ending it after seven — although the nature of the show is one that can go on and on because you can bring in new people. She further said that she’s already got an ending in mind. “I think I do. And I will not share it,” she added.
Season seven will have a lot of drama as the finale of season six has left everyone with wanting more. It will be interesting to see what happens with Piper. “I think that’s the love of her life. I’m not quite sure what that means all the time, but I think there comes the point in life to either commit to a partnership or to not,” Schilling explained.
