Dexter is one of the most successful TV shows of the 2000s. The show came to an abrupt end in 2013, and ever since then, fans have been speculating the return of the show. Being as popular as it was, Dexter could certainly make a return. The show has won several Golden Globes, Emmy’s and what not. Today, we’ll be discussing the return of this show.
Dexter Season 9 Update: Is The Show Returning?
Could the show return? Well, to put it simply, we’ve seen many shows return due to their popularity, so it isn’t completely out of the question. But, is it likely? I don’t think so. There has been little to no talk of Dexter returning for yet another season. Earlier this year, there was a poster that did rounds over Social Media. According to the poster, Dexter season 9 would’ve come out in September 2018, and the show was said to be co-produced by Netflix and Showtime.
People were led to believe that a return was really going to happen. However, a few days later, we came to know that the poster was indeed fake. There was no such thing as Dexter Season 9, and it certainly wasn’t coming out in September. A representative of the Showtime went ahead and told IGN that this was all fake and that no such thing was in plans.
Michael C. Hall was rather interested in doing Dexter once again. According to him, the manner in which the show ended leaves a room for a return, and he’d like that to happen. He also said that at this point, a return is unlikely, but ‘never say never.’ He didn’t rule out the possibility of Dexter’s return, so we haven’t ruled it out either. The show could well return.
Unfortunately, we don’t know if it is going to be happening soon. If I had to guess, I’d say the show would probably be announced by 2020 if it really was in plans. But, you never know. It could come sooner, or maybe even never. I’d like the show to return. Dexter has always been one of my favorite TV shows, and if they somehow do get a return arranged, I’d be totally on board.
