TV Show ‘Liar’ Being Adapted Under The Title ‘Marzi’ In India

The rumors had been circulating for a while, but it is now official. Yes, the famous thriller show Liar is being remade in India of their own version. The cast of Liar was lead by Loan Gruffudd and Joanne Froggatt. The remake is being done by Viacom18 India. Viacom18 India has its own video streaming service which was launched back in 2016 known as Voot.

Voot has already started to stream some original content, but that hasn’t been as successful as the content of the rivals of Viacom18 India. The rivals such as Hotstar, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video have produced some amazing original content that has almost reach everyone in India and even abroad. Netflix’s Sacred Games is a humongous hit and Amazon’s Mirzapur has also been pretty popular in a short space of time in India.

So, it is due for Viacom18 India to produce some awesome original content as well. With the adaptation of Liar, they are hoping that they will at least reach close to the feats achieved by Sacred Games and Mirzapur.

The remake is titled “Marzi” as mentioned earlier, and the top line consists of Aahana Kumra and Rajeev Khandelwal. The original story has been written by Harry and Jack Williams.

The release date of Marzi is yet to be officially revealed, but it is believed that it will be announced soon. The original story focuses on two characters whose life is changed by the story of one night for eternity. Voot’s Executive Vice President Monika Shergil has said:

They selected Liar because of its appeal of the subject and more importantly its story can be a subject of many conversations when it is out. Adding that its thrilling drama and top performances will make the viewers stick to their screens. Whether the story is adapted in a good manner or not remains to be seen.
