Lev travels alone and thinks about all the incidents they have faced.
He realizes that he was a volunteer for the mission and didn’t know what was happening. The next day he met the chief with Irina, and the chief revealed that the Nosferatu Project was successful, and they thanked the two for their work. The chief reveals that the committee wants them to study N44’s biology, and they reveal that Lev is promoted to a candidate for his outstanding duty. If he fails to obey the rules, they will demote him again. Lev learns that the candidate test will begin on 26th and 27th January.
They will choose six to become Mechta Shest, and the top three will compete to fly as the world’s first cosmonaut. But they will launch the Mechta Project in spring. Lev was surprised to hear that the examiner would take charge of Irina and return to the dorm. The chief told Lev to set aside everything, including the beloved ones, since that is the duty of the cosmonaut. The two head out together, and Lev thanks Irina for helping him get promoted. In the evening, Anya visited Irina’s Confitment Cell and reminded her about her training. But they will first try the equipment to analyze Irina’s body when sleeping.
Lev realizes that they have emptied his room and asks Anya what will happen to Irina. Anya reveals that she has never heard anything about Irina’s matter. Lev asks Irina if they told her something during the committee meeting. Irina asks him to be clear, and he asks her what happens after her exam. She tells him to worry about himself since nothing has been decided yet, and he must take care of himself. The two talk about the next test and realize that there is no need to fail. In the morning, Lev left after telling Anya to look after Irina.
He realizes that Irina is not under his care, and Anya can check if she is doing okay. Inside her room, Irina recalls everything they told her in the meeting. She realizes that they told her that her disposal was postponed for the time being. They also reveal how she will be disposed of, and some suggest accidents since they want to protect state secrets. Anya begins to take of Irina until Lev returns. The two realize that it is New Year’s Eve, and they have to celebrate. They try new dresses and head out to celebrate New Year.
