10. Monsta X

This group was formed through a survival show called No Mercy by Starship Entertainment. The group currently contains six members- Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Joohoney, and I.M. The members, along with former member Wonho, had debuted in the year 2015 under Starship Entertainment with their debut song trespass. Monsta X is known for its ability to combine elements of hip hop, EDM, and pop. The group has even shown their versatility with songs that emphasize their beautiful vocals.

Other than their music, the group is known for its powerful choreos and the members’ humble and fun personalities. Over the years, they have gathered a huge fanbase who they call Monbebe. Some of their most popular songs include Loe Killa, Gambler, and Alligator. Their song DRAMARAMA holds about 51 million views. Even in their debut year, they had been nominated for the Artist Of The Year Award in the Mnet Asian Music Awards. And recently, they had won the Best Artist-US award at the Ten Asia Global Ten Awards.


MAMAMOO is undoubtedly one of the most popular kpop groups. The members of the group are known as the best vocalists in kpop. Along with their powerful vocals, they are recognized for their retro, jazz, and R&B concepts. MAMAMOO had debuted under RBW Entertainment in the year 2014 with Mr. Ambigious. By some critics say that their debt had been one of the best debuts of 2014. The girls had gone through a lot because many had said that they wouldn’t be successful because they did not fit the Korean beauty standard. But due to their hard work and diligence, they were able to prove all of them wrong.

MAMAMOO consists of four talented members. First up is Solar, who is MAMAMOO’s leader. The groups’ leader is known for her amazing and charismatic performances. She, like the other members, is able to stable her vocals effortlessly. Then comes MAMAMMOO’s on;y rapper Moonybul. She is able to spit fire with her rap reverse and has even shown her amazing vocals from time to time. Then comes MAMAMMOO’s lead vocalist and lead dancer, Wheein. Lastly is the group’s charismatic maknae, Hwasa. The group had recently been awarded a Bonsang Award at the Soribada Best K-Music Awards.

SEVENTEEN or SVT is a South Korean boyband. This kpop debuted under Pledis Entertainment in 2015. Furthermore, SEVENTEEN debuted on May 26, 2015, with a one-hour-long live showcase on MBC. They were the very first male Kpop boyband to do THAT. Moreover, SEVENTEEN’s talent is widely recognized as they actively participate in songwriting, choreographing, and other activities of their own songs. Hence they are called a self-producing group. Furthermore, SEVENTEEN consists of a total of thirteen members named S. Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino. Although the group stands as one, the members are placed into various sub-units depending upon specialty. Furthermore, the three sub-unit are ”Hip-Hop Unit”, ”Vocal Unit”, and ”Performance Unit”.

The cute concept behind their name is ” 13 members+3 units+ 1 team”. SEVENTEEN’s first album ”Love and Letter” won the Golden Disc Award Album Division. Ever since their debut, their popularity has only continued to sore. Their third full studio album ” An Ode” sold over 700,000 thousand copies in JUST a week of its release and got the group a grand Daesang Award. 7. G0t7

Got7 or 갓세븐 in South Korean is one of the most loved third-generation kpop groups. Furthermore, this kpop group debuted in January of the year 2014 with their ”Got It?” under the well-known kpop agency JYP. Their very first EP itself ranked number on the Billboard’s World Album Chart. Also, their first album, ”Identify” topped South Korea’s charts. Ever since their debut, GOT7 has been releasing chart-topping albums such as Moriagatteyo, Flight Log: Departure, Flight Log: Turbulence, and Flight Log: Arrival. After their successful journey with JYP, GOT7 decided to leave the agency after their contract expired on January 19 of 2021. Although the group has departed from JYP, it has not disbanded, so fans do not have to worry.

Furthermore, GOT7 consists of a total of seven members. Starting with Im Jae Bum, more popularly known by his stage name Jay B, he is the leader, main vocalist, lead dancer, and dancer. Next is Mark Yi En Tuan, who is mostly known as Mark. He is the Lead Rapper, Martial Arts Tricking, and Visual. And next is Jackson Wang or Jackson. He is Chinese and is the main rapper, lead dancer, martial arts tricking, and is also the face of the group. The fourth member is Park Jin Young, popularly known as Junior. He is the sub vocalist, visual, center, and the face of the group. Furthermore, GOT7 have released ”ENCORE” as a group after leaving JYP. Fans love this song and wish more success upon GOT7.

6. NCT

NCT or 엔시티 in Korean is a Kpop boyband. Furthermore, NCT debuted under the mega-successful Kpop agency SM Entertainment. The full form of NCT is Neo Culture Technology. Moreover, NCT is one huge family as it consists of a total of twenty-three members. The twenty-three members of NCT are divided into four subunits. Furthermore, the sub-units of NCT are as follows: NCT U, NCT 127, NCT Dream, and WayV. On March 14, NCT released its very first album named NCT 2018 Empathy. The sub-units carry on their own activities and bless fans with amazing content. Additionally, all the sub-units have come together only twice.

One was at the release of their first album and then at the release of their two-part album NCT Resonance Pt.1 and Pt.2 in October and November of 2020. Furthermore, being the masterpieces that NCT Resonance Pt.1 and Pt.2 were, it earned the group their very first Grand Daesang Award in 2020. The members of NCT Dream include Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle, and Jisung. Next comes the sub-unit Way, which is the fourth and the Chinese sub-unit of NCT. 5. Red Velvet

Red Velvet, without a doubt, is one o the best third-generation kpop groups out there. The group had debuted with four out of five members of the group in the year 2014 with the song Ice Cream. Then when Yeri, the maknae of the group, was able to join her Red Velvet unnies in the year 2015 with Ice Cream Cake. The group consists of five members Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy, and Yeri. They had debuted under one of the Big Three entertainment, which is SM Entertainment.  Interestingly, the group’s name Red Velvet talks about their musical styles too. The red in the group’s name signifies their experiments with electronic funk and hip hop genres. And their velvet side talks about their R&B mixed with a touch of ballad and jazz music.

The members of the girl group have gained recognition for their talents. Irene, the leader of Red Velvet, is known for her amazing visuals and eye-capturing performances. Seulgi is known for her amazing stage presence and dance skills. While Wendy is now for her, even like vocals. Joy is known for her unique vocal tone, and Yeri is known for her magnifying vocals too. Furthermore, the group has been awarded countless times since its debut. Recently they had won a Digital Bonsang at the Seoul Music Awards for their song Psycho. 4. Exo

Exo is another SM Entertainment group that has been ruling the world. It had also been named as one of the top 5 most influential celebrities by the Forbes Korea Power Celebrity list. Exo had debuted with twelve members divided into two sub-units. The sub-units being Ex0-K: Suho, Baekhyun, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai, and Sehun, and Exo-M: Xiuimin, Lay, and Chen, former Kris, Luhan, and Tao. Exo-K consists of Korean members, and Exo-M consists of Chinese members.

Later on, their album Don’t Mess Up My Tempo had become their highest-charting album on the US Billboard 200. Their most recent award is the Best Global Artist In The Second Half of 2020 by Ten Asia Global Ten Awards. Exo, along with its labelmate Red Velvet had made a comeback after a long hiatus and have build up the heat with the comebacks.

3. Twice

Twice isn’t known as the Nation’s Girl Group for nothing. The girl group had been formed through a survival program called Sixteen. Which eventually led Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu to become members of Twice. They had debuted with their debut song Like OOH-AAH. They had risen to fame with their song Cheer Up, which had become the nation’s song by then. Twice have won the song of the year award about three times.

The girl group is the first Korean act to land their albums at the top of Billboard World Albums and World Digital Song Sales with their first studio album Twicetagram. The girls have made us fall in love with their cutesy concept and have also rocked the mature concept. Twice is a very versatile and talented group.

2. Blackpink

It is not an exaggeration to say that Blackpink is one of the most popular girl groups in the world. The girls have won over the world with their alluring charms. The Blackpink is the only girl group that is currently under YG Entertainment. However, there are talks that their juniors would debut soon. Besides, that Blackpink had shaken the world with their debut songs Boombayah and Whistle in 2016. They had won their first music show win just after 13 days of their debut with their song whistle. Literally, since their debut, the Blackpink girls have been breaking records non-stop.  Blackpink has one of the biggest fanbases in the world, which they named blinks. She is known as one of the most beautiful visuals of kpop of all time. Plus, you can’t help but fall for her ocean-deep vocals. Then comes Blackpink’s Gucci girl Jennie. Jennie could be called the most stylish member of Blackpink. God knows how she can be so fierce but cute at the same time. Then there is Blackpink’s chipmunk Rosé. You are blessed if you have ever heard Rosé singing. She is a literal angel with those unreal long legs. Last up is Blackpink’ maknae Lisa. Lisa is one of the best dancers in all of kpop. At the same time, she is also known as one of the best dancers too. Their talents mix together to make an amazing team called Blackpink.

These girls had their breakthrough with DD-DU-DDU-DU, which currently has stacked about 1.6 billion views (that’s a whole lot of views). And their first full album, The Album, had debuted at no.2 in the US Billboard 200, becoming the highest-charting all-girl group.  To think that these are just some of Blackpink’s achievements. 1. BTS

Coming to the worldwide sensations themselves: BTS. Furthermore, BTS also goes by the name Bangtan Boys. If you do not know who BTS is, you must have been living under a rock. This kpop boy band debuted in the year 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment ( the company has rebranded itself to HYBE).

Furthermore, Bangtan Boys consist of seven members. RM or Kim Namjoon is the leader and the main rapper, Jungkook is the Main Vocalist, Lead Dancer, the center face, and Maknae (Phew! that’s a lot of talents). Coming up next is Jimin, who is the Lead vocalist and the main dancer. Jin is the oldest member, and he is the vocalist as well as the visual. Fifth is Jung Hoseok, whose stage name is J-Hope. He is the Lead Rapper and Main Dancer. Next is Suga or Min Yoongi, who is the Lead rapper of the group. Last but not least is Taehyung, more popularly known by his stage name V. He is a lead dancer, sub vocalist, and obviously a visual.

Moreover, these seven talented boys make up the biggest boyband in the world. Although BTS did not debut in the Big 3 companies, the band has become the most popular boy band in the world with their hard work. Their debut album was 2 Cool 4 Skool. Furthermore, their second album, Wings, which was released in 2016, was their first album to sell more than one million copied in South Korea. Moreover, with their single Mic Drop, BTS became the first-ever Korean group to get certified by the Recording Industry Association of America or RIAA. Also, if we start talking about the achievements, we wouldn’t be able to stop. But perhaps the highlight of their career so far is their 4 Daesang’s, Dynamite’s Grammy Award nomination, and topping the Billboard Hot 100 countless times.
