Tim Duncan is regarded as one of the greatest power forwards of all times and has the nickname the Big Fundamental. Duncan is one of the greatest players in the history of the NBA.  And has spent 19 years of his whole career playing for the team San Antonio Spurs. He started his career as a swimmer but later in grade 9 switched to basketball.

At that time the Hurricane Hugo had destroyed the only available Olympic size pool in his home city, Saint Croix. As a high school student, he started playing basketball for St. Dustan’s. Episcopal team. And followed by this he played for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons team in his college career. While he was in the senior year, he got the John Wooden Award and was titled the Naismith College Player of the Year. At the same time, he was also the USBWA College Player of the Year. When he graduated from college, he was selected by the san Antonia team. That too with the first overall pick in the NBA Draft in 1997. And after this, he also received the rookie of the year award.

Usually, he played in the Power forward position and also played center for the majority of his career. For his, he is also the holder wins like Five-time NBA champion, two-time NBA MVP, a three-time Finals MVP, and a fifteen-time NBA All-Star, which is a rare achievement in the field of basketball. He is the only player in basketball to get selected for both the All-NBA as well as the All-DEfensive Team. That too for 13 consecutive seasons. He has also founded the Tim Duncan Foundation. The main motto of this foundation is to raise health awareness and fund education and youth sports programs.

Duncan was born on the 25th of April 1976 to parents Lone and William Duncans and was born and raised in Saint Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. His mother is a professional midwife and on the other hand, his father is a mason. Out of all the children, Duncan is the youngest one. He has one older brother and two younger sisters. His sister is also a swimmer but now works as a nurse. She has won the U.S. Virgin Islands at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. Ducan admired his sister and also dreamed of becoming an Olympic-level swimmer.

When Hurricane Hugo destroyed the only Olympic swimming pool in his home time, he was training to qualify for the 1992 Olympic games. He also had a fear of sharks which is why he never swam in the ocean. This was also a reason that he was not that interested in that sport. And then on his 14th birthday, his mother passed away. After which his brother-in-law suggested he try basketball. And soon, he became an exceptional player in that sport. He used to play for the  St. Dunstan’s Episcopal High School. He married Amy Sherrill in July in the year 2001, but the two divorced in the year 2013. The couple also has two kids.

Tim Duncan estimated net worth is around 130 million dollars. This includes all his possession and assets.  When he was at the peak of his career, he used to pay 20 million dollars per season. It is estimated that he has made more than 200 million dollars in his whole basketball career. And has also earned a huge chunk of money from endorsements. His current salary stands somewhere around 10 million dollars. In the year 2015, he filed a fraud lawsuit against one of his former investment advisors. And claimed that he had lost almost 20 million dollars in the process. In the April of 2017, the advisor pleaded guilty to this fraud. The two reached a settlement clause, and Duncan finally received a settlement in June the following year. After this, he received 7.5 million back.
