Tiger and Bunny, an anime that inspired a manga and a one-shot instead of the other way around. The anime was first released on April 3rd in 2011, under the production of Sunrise. It was directed by Keiichi Satou, who has previously directed the live-action version of the popular anime and manga Black Butler. He is also responsible for Asura, a conceptual 2012 anime film. The series ended quickly in the same year it began on 17th September 2011, but it left its mark on the watchers. Viz Media simulcasted it on Hulu as well as Anime News Network in the same year. Two films were also made, which aired in the years 2013 and 2014, respectively.
The anime was good enough to inspire a one-shot manga illustrated by Masakazu Katsura. It was featured in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump manga magazine on August 4, 2011. It was later translated to a serialized manga by Hiroshi Ueda in the same year in October. Later on, an anthology series was illustrated by multiple artists was licensed by Viz Media in North America. This series was then released in 2013, years after the original anime series had stopped airing.
Now, after almost a decade, oh, its release. Tiger and Bunny are all set for a comeback. The series has announced a second season with a brand new title and character design. It was also announced that the first season would be made available on YouTube for viewers to watch completely free. This is likely because it has been a long time since it first aired, and watchers might need to be a little hyped for the second season. However, we believe it will get a good response from otakus all over the world.

The story takes place in a fictional setup of the real New York City called Stern Bild City. The world and story of Tiger and Bunny can easily be compared to My Hero Academia or One Punch Man. NEXTs are Noted Entities With Extraordinary Talents. They are basically people with superpowers and abilities. Some use it for good, some for evil, and yet some other for fame and money. Yes, just like One Punch Man and MHA, Tiger and Bunny also have a Hero System. Real-life companies sponsor heroes, and their battles are broadcasted on Hero Tv, a show made specifically for that purpose. Kotetsu, also known as Wild Tiger, is teamed up with rookie hero Brooks Barnaby Jr. or Bunny. And even though the two don’t go well together, they try to make the best of any situation while investigating the murder of Brooks’ parents.
Story So Far
The final 25th episode of Tiger and Bunny season one aired on 17 September 2011. The final battle between Maverick and the heroes was in full force. Kotetsu goes down after being injured gravely, and everyone thinks he has died in battle. Meanwhile, Maverick sends down an army of androids to finish off the remaining heroes, but Saito manages to shut them all down at once. So Maverick decides to kill Dr. Rotwang, having no further use of it. He makes a whole speech about evading the law because of his popularity and powers.
However, his rant gets broadcasted, and he becomes exposed. Seeing no other option left, he takes Kaede hostage, but Kotetsu comes to her rescue. As it turns out, he had only fainted because of his injuries. The battle comes to an end, and Maverick is taken under custody only to be killed by Lunatic, a criminal who questions the place of heroes in the world. Kotetsu and Barnaby announce their retirements from the job, but they return a year later even though Kotetsu’s powers are now diminishing. Will they be able to find the real leader of Ouroboros? Season 2 should lift the curtain of mystery for us.
Tiger And Bunny Season 2 Release Date and Design Changes
Tiger And Bunny Season 2 is all set to return in the year 2022. Before that, the makers have decided to drop all the episodes one by one on YouTube for free. They have also made the visible logo and character changes which you can see in the image above. The show’s second season will most likely release in the spring anime session of 2021.
