Vinland Saga is a Japanese manga-based series written and illustrated by Makoto Yukimura. The manga is published in Kodansha and first published by weekly shonen. Initially, for a few episodes, the Story revolves around Thors, The brave warrior who leaves fighting wars and living peacefully with his family. One day, after the arrival of certain visitors, He starts his journey with his son Thorfinn and some of his mates. Unfortunately, something terrible happens to Thors, and the story shifted towards his son Thorfinn. This is where the real story of the anime starts. Now let’s come to our main point.
Thorfinn, The Son Of Thors:
As we discussed above, Thorfinn is the major protagonist of the Vinland Saga series. When Thors gets killed by Askeladd, He pledges to kill him someday but due to his weakness, He was very far from even challenging him. Deep down, even Askeladd knows that Thors was a brave warrior and his son has a lot of potential. All he needs is a little push. He asked him to stay with him until he becomes stronger to actually kill him. After the death of Askeladd, Thorfinn realized what his true goal is, and he began working in that direction. Currently, He is working with Leif Ericson and wants to colonize Vinland.
Thorfinn’s Appearance & Personality
First, Let’s talk about Thorfinn’s appearance. Thorfinn has short to medium height, Bushy hair, old clothes, a wrathful face, and two sharp knives as a weapon. He used to be the happier kid in his country, but after seeing so many tragedies, He became an avenger who wants to kill Asceladd someday. His entire body is covered with bruises and scared, which shows the sign of his battles. He does not believe in fighting with a weapon and tries to defeat people with his body and arms and neutralize them to a great extent. This is the reason why he has so many scars on his body.
If we talk about his personality, He used to be a happier kid with a bright smile but now, After witnessing his father’s death, His smile is lost forever, and he becomes much more serious and has a wrathful face. He now becomes a cold-hearted guy who doesn’t think twice before killing any bad guy and this is somewhat necessary to survive in the war era. He can’t control his anger and you can easily guess his emotions by seeing his face. Indeed he is on his way to becoming the greatest warrior as his father and traveled to places where Thors went. After witnessing the death of Askeladd, We can easily say that he was sad even though Askeladd was the one who killed his father, so he still has that human heart and easily connects with people. This was the whole personality and appearance of Thorfinn.
