Ep 10 of The Veil begins with the past, sharing the actual incident that happened. After learning there is an internal rat in their team, all three begins suspecting each other. Eventually, it leads to Kyung Seok shooting Dong Wook and Ji Hyuk shooting Dong Wook instead. Later it shows that Dong Wook actually shot Chun Woo to save Ji Hyuk. However, his past video only reveals that he was the one who killed his colleagues, and he did not find the internal spy. That incident also unlocks his younger memories of his parents getting killed. According to his memories, Ji Hyuk accidentally shot his father, which was meant for the burglar. Those memories, fury, regret, pain, self-hate, everything comes out after the video is exposed.
Afterward, everything seems going downfall. NIS lock him. We see an emotional scene where Je Yi talks with Ji Hyuk and shows that he is not that past person. Ji Hyuk has changed but, that does not mean they can ignore his mistakes that ended up killing his teammates. Je Yi is the person Ji Hyuk needs most in life. She leads him in the darkness and accepts him with all of his flaws. Meanwhile, Kang Pil Ho makes a deal with Deputy Commissioner Lee to let Ji Hyuk out, and he will step down from his current position.
The Mastermind Turns Out Be Baek Mo Sa And Not Lee Im Hwan
Finally, Kang Pil Ho reveals the truth. In the past, he worked with Lee In Hwan (Deputy Commissioner). He instructed So Yeon to get close to Kyung Seok to acquire internal reports. Pil Ho did it to stop Lee In Hwan from conquering the whole NIS with his wicked plan. He also reveals that Ji Hyuk did not kill his father. The bullet Ji Hyuk shot was found in the wall. It seems there was an acquaintance, and thus, they should find his memories, which have answers to all of their questions. Therefore, they come up with a plan with Jung Yong Tae.
Their plan succeeds as Lee In Hwan and Planet’s chairman Shin Su Yong stand against each other. Shin Su Yong gives all evidence that can keep Lee In Hwan behind the bar. Finally, they arrest Lee Im Hwan but, he refuses to speak. Therefore, Ji Hyuk visits him, and there, he learns about a new twist. It turns out the main mastermind was Baek Mo Sa, who knew about Ji Hyuk’s mental illness. He used that to seed suspicion in his mind and made him doubt his colleagues. The original plan was to catch NIS agents red-handed in the murder of Ri Dong Chul and kill the remaining agents on the spot. It was a revenge plan to take down the entire NIS who sold off Baek Mo Sa years ago. The episode ends with Lee In Hwan find handing on the ceiling, which seems Baek Mo Sa’s work.
