‘The Slime Diaries: That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime,’ Episode 1 – Review

‘The Slime Diaries: That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime,’ episode 1 is titled “The Residents of the City of Monsters.” The episode revolves around Rimuru learning that he has been transformed into slime and has been transferred into a magical world. He built a whole town in the other world and decided to note down the adventures that he experiences over there. He would write about his days in a diary whenever he would transform back into his human form. Rimuru wished to write about his life that the viewers witnessed in the first two seasons of “That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime.” Ironically, each time he thought about the past, he would not have the motivation to write anything. When Shuna enquired about the empty diary, Rimuru said that maintaining a journal is a tedious affair. Feeling a little lazy, he chose the easy way out of giving up.

More than ten thousand monsters inhabited Rimuru’s village, and it was widespread for a few monsters not to get along. The first episode circulated around the argument which took place between Shion and Rigurd. Rimuru, being a quiet and peaceful person, tried to avoid this illogical squabble as much as he could but was soon roped into the disagreement to help find a solution. Rimuru, Rigurd, and Shion, along with the board members, gather around to address this issue. This quarrel focused on two outfits – which one would look better on Rimuru? One of the outfits was a little feminine, while the other one was masculine. It seemed like an essential matter to continuously fight about, and so, to keep both Rigurd and Shion happy, Rimuru said that he likes the two outfits equally and will gladly accept them and make use of them.

Shion was a lovely lady who wished to assist Rimuru whenever it was necessary. She would lend a hand in Rimuru’s work or would give him some refreshments when he gets tired. Even though she was kind-hearted, it was a known fact that she could not correctly get any work done. When Shion tried to give Rimuru some tea, she, by mistake, falls, and the tea goes flying and spilling everywhere, even drenching Rimuru in it. When Rimuru’s body starts magically healing itself, it is understood that there was some acid or poison mixed in the tea. Shion’s absentmindedness proved that she is not even capable of making tea. Not wanting to make her feel bad, Rimuru tells Shion that she is a good secretary and completes her tasks perfectly when she is sitting in one place and is not moving. Hearing this, they all laugh, and Shion ends up taking this comment as a compliment. She is not even able to understand when someone is pulling her leg.

The episode ends with a scene that showcases how Rimuru has recently built up a building for the new assembly of the village. The villagers were extremely grateful to have Rimuru as the leader of their Nation. Taking everything into consideration, the episode concludes on a smooth and positive note.
