The English Twitter account for the anime of The Rising of The Shield Hero announced that the first episode of the English dub would be delayed. The episode was supposed to come out on Wednesday. According to a report by Anime News Network, Crunchyroll hasn’t released any information related to the delay.
Crunchyroll had announced that they had planned to release the dubbed episodes on the same day as the subtitled ones. The series was scheduled to be launched on January 9, but Crunchyroll streamed the first 45 minutes subtitled episode on Saturday. The new episodes will stream on Wednesdays outside of Asia.
The first dubbed episode of the anime was previewed by Crunchyroll at their expo on September 3. The series kicked off with a two-hour special in Japan on AT-X on January 9 at 10:00 p.m. The show will run for half-year.
The anime is being directed by Takao Abo (Norn9) at Kinema Citrus. Keigo Koyanagi (Regalia: The Three Sacred Stars) is in charge of the series composition. The character designs for the animation will be done by Masahiro Suwa (Chaika the Coffin Princess animation director). The show is being co-produced by Crunchyroll with Kadokawa. Iwatani Naofumi, a run-of-the-mill otaku, finds a book in the library that summons him to another world. He is tasked with joining the sword, spear, and bow as one of the Four Cardinal Heroes and fighting the Waves of Catastrophe as the Shield Hero. Excited by the prospect of a grand adventure, Naofumi sets off with his party. However, merely a few days later, he is betrayed and loses all his money, dignity, and respect.
