Season 3 of The Last Kingdom has been given a green light. Although season 3 will only make it to Netflix. Audiences thought that season 3 of the series was actually cancelled. But the announcement was made in the nick of time.

The Last Kingdom Season 3: Updates

Season 3 is in works, the production has begun, and fans should be able to get it very soon. The announcement was made on Twitter on the official page of The Last Kingdom, and it read, “ARSELINGS! Alexander Dreymon, your very own Uhtred son of Uhtred, has some exciting news for you… #TheLastKingdom season 3 is in production, and will be coming to Netflix worldwide later this year!” Alexander Dreymon who plays Uhtred also confirmed the same for us. He did mention that the show might come to us later this year.

The Last Kingdom Season 3: Cast

Alexander Dreymon of The American Horror Story fame will reprise his role as a lead character and a Saxon raised by Vikings: Uhtred of Bebbanburg. Besides him, David Dawson will return as King Alfred the Great. Emily Cox is likely to be back as the ruthless warrior Brida. Eliza Butterworth will also be back as Alfred’s wife, Aelswith. Millie Brady will be back as the Princess Aethelflaed. She was kidnapped at the end of season 2. Toby Rego who’s a newcomer will be Princess Aethelflaed’s husband. The other cast includes:

James Northcote as Aldhelm
Jeppe Beck Laursen as Haesten
Henrik Lundström as Rollo
Cavan Clerkin as Father Pyrlig
Adrian Bouchet as Steapa and
Ewan Mitchell as Osferth.

The Last Kingdom Season 3: Air Date

Bernard Cornwell, the 74-year-old author, confirmed the airtime in a Q&A. The author said, “Yes, the show will return on Netflix — probably this Autumn. They are filming now and have very kindly asked me to make a cameo appearance. I’m just hoping that Uhtred will insult me.”

Going by their words, it looks like The Last Kingdom is all set for an Autumn drop on Netflix. We’ll update this page as soon as we have the air date.
