The King’s Affection Episode 11 and 12 Recap
Episode 11 and 12 of The King’s Affection has amazed fans. The past two episodes were filled with action and have brought the story to a totally new turn. Ever since the start, we all hated the King for ordering his daughter to be killed. But the revelation that he knew about her secret and protected her made not just Da Mi but also the audiences see him in a new light. But this discovery was not made during a sweet time. The entire kingdom of Joseon is in chaos after Crown Prince Lee Hwi made a royal beg for a slave girl’s forgiveness.
The Murder Of A Slave Girl
After Prince Chang Woon (Lee Hwi’s uncle) witnesses Shin So Eun and Royal Tutor Jung, the news that the crown princess to be has feelings for someone else spreads like wildfire. The kingdom is buzzing with gossip, and the royal palace goes into utter chaos. Additionally, Prince Chang Woon relays this information to Lee Hwi’s grandfather and gets rewarded. Lee Hwi’s grandfather not only demands punishment for So Eun. He also makes sure that the Minister of Personal gets demoted. As if that was not enough, arrogant Prince Chang Woon goes a step further. As he is dragging So Eun’s little maid, he is stopped by the Crown Prince to leave her alone. With the tip of the sword at his throat, Chang Woon agrees.
But later that day, the slave girl’s dead body is found with a button that belongs to Chang Woon. Knowing that Prince Chang Woon is the killer, Da Mi cannot sit still. With the help of Prince Jaehyun, she retrieves the evidence Prince Chang Woon hid very carefully. However, her arrogant uncle still believes that the life of a royal is worth way more than the life of a slave girl. She says that she will spare him if he kneels and asks for forgiveness at the girl’s grave. A man of royal blood kneeling in front of a slave, that too by the Crown Prince’s orders had never been seen before. This was during the time when the caste system was strongly followed. Although it was a benevolent decision, what follows Lee Hwi after this will make your heartbreak.
The Dethronement Of The Crown Prince
Prince Chang Woon commits suicide right after the Crown Prince makes him kneel in front of the slave girl’s grave. Adding to that, he mentions in his suicide letter that he could not tolerate the humiliation. He makes a request that the Crown Prince be dethroned for this mistake. Hearing about this, the nobles in Joseon start fearing that they will lose their special privileges. When the news reaches the scholars, they gather in front of the palace to protest and ask for him to step down.
Furthermore, Court Lady Kin and Eunuch Hong try to persuade Lee Hwi to ask for forgiveness and keep silent like he used to. But when Da Mi says that looking at how the slave girl died unjustly reminded her how she was ordered to be killed at her birth even when she was just a baby. ”How are she and I any different?” The line brought tears to everyone’s eyes. Park Eun Bin’s acting in this scene will give you goosebumps. She does not apologize and insists that it was not a misjudgment on her part. This leads to the Crown Prince of Joseon getting dethroned.

The King’s Affection
It was revealed in the latest episodes that Da Mi’s father always knew her secret. When he goes to the Crown Prince’s quarters late at night, he sees her walking in women’s shoes. Da Mi does not notice him until she sees him leaving. King Hyejong further reveals that he had known that she was his daughter ever since the Crown Princess (Lee Hwi’s mother) died. Da Mi cannot stop her tears from flowing when she hears this. She says that although she respects him as the Crown Prince, she will never forgive him as someone who was born in the Palace. To make our heartache, even more, she goes on to ask the King if he ever regretted his decision. The King tells her to leave the palace.
Although it seemed like he did not create, King Hyejong had a secret plan to escort Da Mi to safety. He sent Commander Yoon (his bodyguard) to take her away from the guards and hide her somewhere she could live freely. And, of course, our sweet boy, Prince Jaehyun, was also behind all of this. As a departing gift, King Hyejong gave his daughter a beautiful traditional pink gown and a letter that symbolized his affection. He begged her forgiveness and told her that she was the Crown Prince of Joseon and asked her to live safely. Even after his numerous efforts, The King’s Affection Episode 14 preview hints at his death. Keep on watching to find out what happens next!
