Sherlock Holmes is one of the most iconic fictional characters out there. Created by Sir. Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes has been adapted multiple times, prominently by Robert Downey Jr and Benedict Cumberbatch. This is also to say that Netflix has been investing in its own Sherlock Holmes Universe, starting with the release of Enola Holmes. Considering how well it did, it seems like Netflix has found yet another gem in this new fictional universe surrounding the iconic Baker Street in Victorian London.
Unlike the other iterations of this universe, The Irregulars does not focus on the Detective but his less-known helpers. Tom Bidwell, its creator, had this plan on his mind for quite some time to create a spin-off series regarding Sir. Arthur Conan Doyle’s mysteries. This show will have Sherlock Holmes be a drug addict and delinquent who is now unable to solve the cases he could before. So, losing his grip on the ability to deduce cases, Dr. Watson proceeds to take help from the Irregulars. The Irregulars are a bunch of kids who are known to be Sherlock Holmes’ little helpers who find clues and do chores for him.
This version of the Irregulars is older, tougher, and are more capable of taking on the dangers that come with crime-solving. Now, considering Sherlock Holmes’ rapport compared to that of The Irregulars, the world may be much interested in what the well-known sleuth has to say than a bunch of street kids. Therefore, for any crime they solve, the credit is taken away by Sherlock Holmes. Honestly, it is quite hard not to point out the similarity in the plot setting to that of Case Closed or popularly known as Detective Conan.

Episode 1 Preview
The Irregulars Season 1 Episode 1 should help set up this Sherlock Holmes Universe as it gives a basic understanding of who plays what role in the story. If the synopsis of the show is anything to go by, the story will be set in Victorian London. Here, the street kids known as the Irregulars will be manipulated by Dr. John Watson in order to work instead of his associate, Sherlock Holmes. This series has displayed a set of crimes with some horrifying supernatural elements to it. There are some dark powers that seem to have emerged, causing deaths in and around Victorian London.
The trailer shows a blue light running through the map while we see glimpses of gruesome shots of dead people flashing up on the screen. These aren’t usual homicides but have some paranormal elements to them as well. There is something that has been moving through the shadows preying down on the people of London. This nightmare will hunt down anyone who dares to eviscerate it. Now the fate of the people lies among the unlikely few, The Irregulars.
The Irregulars are a group of orphan kids headed Bea. She takes charge of her makeshift family, which includes her sister, Jessie, and fellow orphans, Billy and Spike. This group is joined by a prince, Leopold, who seems to have struck down on his own. The plot depicts Jessie dealing with recurring horrific nightmares just when the group receives a job offer from Dr. Watson.
Elements of the Show
The Irregulars are a crew of teenage crime solvers who will be taking center stage on this Netflix series. The show will have other elements in terms of dynamics in relation to Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. But, much focus will be on depicting the story and adventures of this gang. Unlike the previous adaptations of Sherlock Holmes, where we get a detailed explanation of each aspect of the case, here we will experience a much relatable old-fashioned logic and deduction. The one major difference is the supernatural element, which is not completely out of the Sherlock Holmes’ Universe. This is considering, and such an element did appear in the game Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter. But, unlike the game, the supernatural elements may, in fact, be canon to the story where there are actual ghouls and horror attacking the streets of London.
