If you are a huge fan of comic books, then you must already have a fair idea of the 2020 Bloodshot film. However, for those who have little knowledge about the Valiant comic Universe, the movie’s ending might have left you utterly dazed. Though the ending seems to be convincing enough, right before the scene cuts to the credits, there were some questions asked that suddenly make you think about it. Was the ending the reality for Ray, or just a stimulation for Bloodshot? Did they really escape RST, or are they getting manipulated once again? In this article, you will find the Ending of ‘Bloodshot’ Explained.
The movie gives off the superhero vibes, where it seems like the origin story of Bloodshot. An interesting fact about the movie is that it had started off its production back in 2021. Sony used to release superhero movies and had decided to release Bloodshot as their another Cinematic Universe, like the Marvels. However, with the immense success of the MCU, Sony thought it was best to wait for a while. Also, they had quite some problems with the productions early on. There was also a rumor that Jared Leto will play the role of Bloodshot, however, later Vin Diesel was selected for the role.
Bloodshot – The Plot
The plot of the movie is not that complicated. If you watch the movie, you will pretty much understand that Ray was a soldier who saw his wife getting killed in front of his eyes, and now he must get his revenge. RST helps him with another life, they make him stronger and almost invincible. Like any other superhero film, he was made stronger with some nanotechnology known as nanites which helps him to heal extremely fast. However, in the latter half of the film, we find out that there was no such thing.
With the other “superhero” Wigans, Ray finds out that RST has been erasing his memory, and using him for their own benefit. This infuriates Ray and he goes to fight off RST. He fails in the first fight and the RST captures him again. They also erase his memory once again. KT, another of his teammate comes to the rescue this time and helps him to gain consciousness.
Ray tries to find out his truth and gets to know that his ex-wife is actually alive. They got divorced long back as the marriage could not work out anymore. He becomes extremely heartbroken and again goes against the RST. This time he comes back victorious. Wigans, KT, and Ray now go off to a far place to enjoy their lives without their past affecting them. As they share a beautiful sunset, Ray gets memories of his wife in Italy. In the end, Wigans then mentions what if RST is still manipulating them. Even KT says that everything feels too good to be true. This is where the audience went wild about the ending.
As for the ending, if we compare it with the comics, then there is a high chance that RST is not manipulating them anymore. They have killed them all, and now they will be going on to their next mission. However, most superhero movies, usually do not exactly follow the path of the comics. In the movie, there was not exactly a clear indication of whether Dr. Harting was killed off.
It could be that Harting had managed to escape, and could come back in the sequel for revenge. If they would not have followed the exact pattern of the comics, then it could be that they are still in stimulation. Ray thinks about his wife and the time they spent in Italy. However, we do know that their marriage was not a very happy one and it ended quite soon. Ray loved his life as a soldier more. Hence, it could be hardly likely that they could have gone to Italy in reality.
Another interesting thing about the movie is that there is another alternative ending to the movie. In the VOD release of Bloodshot, we find out that Harting died differently. He was drowned by Ray himself. This would have given a proper segway to the next volume of the comic series. However, Sony wanted it to be more epic, and hence the elevator scene was shot. The comics suggest a lot of things in more detail like Bloodshot was not even Ray. There it was shown that even Ray was a stimulation, and his actual origin is still unknown. If they plan on shooting a sequel, then this could be a major key connecting both of the movies. You can watch Bloodshot on Youtube Watch.
