However, after a month of the theatrical release, it will simultaneously be released on two OTT platforms. The film was about to release in April 2021 but was delayed due to the Covid-19 increased cases and the lockdown in Maharashtra.
Thalaivii will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. While Kangana Ranaut will be seen as Jayalalitha in the movie, Arvind Swami will portray Late Chief Minister M.G Ramachandran. Thalaivii: Release Date
Thalaivii will release on September 10, 2021. The first teaser of Thalaivi was released on November 23, 2019, and received a positive response. Earlier, the biopic film was about to release on June 26, 2020, but it was delayed due to the Covid 19 pandemic. In June 2020, the filmmakers announced that it would have a theatrical release and not just be directly released on OTT platforms. After that, the film was scheduled for a theatrical release on April 23, 2021. But it was again put back due to the Covid-19 increased cases and lockdown in Maharashtra. Later, it was scheduled to release on September 10, 2021, in multiple languages and with a new name Thalaivii.

The movie is all set to be in the theatres in few hours. However, the film has already been rated by the critics who were lucky enough to watch the movie earlier. Unfortunately, Thalaivii has received mixed reactions, with the majority of the responses revealing that Kangana Ranaut’s work in the movie is terrific. Times Of India gave the movie a three and a half stars rating, stating that the political scenes of the film are respectful, but the movie lacks objectivity. Koimoi’s Umesh Punwani gave the movie two, and a half star states that the film did not cover some major life incidents of Jayalalitha.
