Tawny was born on August 5, 1961, to a simple couple in a household in San Diego, California. She was originally named Julie Kitaen. At the age of 12, Kitaen started using ‘Tawny’ as her nickname, without anyone’s interference, and completely at her own will. She got an inspiration to become popular at the age of 14 when she attended Peter Frampton’s rock concert with her friends. She was amazed by the VIP treatment that was provided to Frampton’s girlfriend. During the time of being a cover girl for Ratt’s debut EP, Tawny dated Ratt’s guitarist, Robbin Crosby.

She started her acting career with a small role in the 1983 television movie Malibu. She got the title role in 1984 in an erotic-adventure movie named The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik-Yak, commonly known as Gwendoline. Some of her best performances include Tom Hank’s bride-to-be in the film Bachelor Party. Apart from the film roles, Kitaen was become popular for being featured in various music videos with Whitesnake and Ratt. Later in 1989, she married the Whitesnake singer David Coverdale and divorced in 1991. In 1997, she married a baseball player Chuck Finley, but was charged with domestic violence. Kitaen is a mother of two.
