S.W.A.T. Season 5 Episode 5 Recap
Previously on S.W.A.T. Season 5, the team was working on a case that started out as a fake phone call. The team was working on a case to rescue former football star Derrick Nichols and his wife from his residence. The call was pretty clear that there was an intruder trying to kill him. The team did reach out, and someone did shoot, but there was no intruder there. Only Nichols and his wife. Being a popular football player, Nichols was bound to have haters who contacted him through letters and threats. Even now, since he is rich.
So, the team worked on the contacts and letters Nichols and his wife gave to them. Hoping to catch the one person who is threatening to them now. Things took a different turn when another former football player came accusing Nichols of sleeping with his wife. The team took him down and figured he might be telling the truth. Nichols decided to confess that he did have affairs when he was a star. But since retiring, he tried to be a married man.

So, the only reason Nichols didn’t come out earlier was that his wife was there. The team continued their investigation and found out that Nichols’ wife had been kidnapped. Nichols had already left secretly to talk to the kidnappers. The team, on the other hand, also figured out the man behind these threats. A man who had an affair with his wife, Carolyn. In fact, he lost a lot of millions of dollars when Nichols quit on a deal with him.
So, it was a divisive plan of this man and Nichols’ wife. Especially because if Nichols dies, Caroyln will get a pretty good sum of fortune. The team managed to save Nichols but had to take out the kidnapper in the process. Nichols’ marriage failed, but finally, he was safe from any more threats.
