Hunter x Hunter is a Japanese manga-based anime written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi. The anime adaptation of this anime was made twice. The first one was adapted by Nippon Television studio back in 1999. However, it was reanimated by the famous Mad House studio in 2011 with better animations and character design. The story revolves around the major protagonist of the show Gon Freecs who dreamed of finding his father, Ging, who is a famous hunter. 9. Morel Mackernasey
Having a large amount of aura definitely gives an edge in the fight, and having thrice the amount of aura than the protagonist will outclass you in each fight. This is the case with Morel. He is incredible in close to mid-combat fights with very few weak points. His major power includes a large amount of smoke, and its ability to transform into any object is something that can cause trouble for many opponents. He can form anything with his smoke, including a weapon, ship, or even a clone of himself.

Palm is one of the most interesting characters in Hunter x Hunter. She has an interesting nen type which can sense opponent from very far range. Her nen type is known as Lonesome Deep Sea Fish. She also has the ability to defend herself with her own hair, and with this technique, she even cornered Killua. She has a huge crush on our main protagonist Gon Freecs.

Kurapika is the mate of Gon and a very skilled hunter. He is the sole survivor of the Kurta clan and wants to avenge the murderers of his clan, Phantom Troupe. He is quite skilled and powerful, and when he comes in wrath mode, he can corner anyone literally. Kurapika has nen ability to control chains and binds his opponent’s heart with invisible chains. He crushed Majtani, the member of Phantom Troupe, quite terribly and set an example among other strong hunters.

Killua Zoldyck is the younger brother of Illumi and the best friend of Gon Freecs. He is the assassin from the Zoldyck family who made friends with Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio. He is extremely fast and powerful. His lighting type nen can dispose of even powerful opponents with ease. He even defeated the King’s guardian with his ability. Killua’s massive speed helps him get an edge in the battle. When Gon went out of control, he is the one who helped Gon control his power.

5. Feitan
Feitan is a member of the phantom troupe and one of the most powerful characters in the series. He has a very weird power, the more injury he gets, the more powerful he becomes. His power helped him sustain longer in battle and made his opponent think twice before hurting him. His action is usually very fast-paced, which gives him an extra advantage to him over his opponents. He nearly formed the mini sun around him that burned everyone around thanks to his extremely powerful nen ability.

4. Zeno Zoldyck
Zeno being the most senior one in the Zoldyck family, has a lot of experience in fighting tough battles. Even after getting this much old, his movements and abilities are quite powerful and perhaps the strongest one in all of the Zoldyck family. As a transmuter, he can change the form of his aura into dragon-like waves. 3. Gon Freecs
Gon is the major protagonist of Hunter x Hunter anime and probably the most bright and talented boy. He holds the unique nen type, which can unleash heavy fire-based attacks on close to medium distance. Gon always wanted to find his father and become a worthy hunter. Gon faced many challenges and eventually emerged victorious after facing them. Gon’s bright smile and laughing face turned into the opposite one when he faced Kite’s death, and Neferpitou accepts that he is the reason for his death.

2. Chrollo Lucifer
Chrollo Lucifer is certainly one of the tougher guys in Hunter x Hunter. He holds the rank of the leader of a famous phantom troupe and even survived in a fight against two senior-most Zoldycks. Even Zeno and Silva mentioned that if Chrollo fought seriously, they might have a very tough time dealing with him. Chrollo’s extremely high IQ gives him an extra edge over his opponent. Chrollo is also the major rival of Hisoka, and they even sparred in the manga, but sadly, the manga went on hiatus just after a few chapters due to Togashi’s health issues.

1. Isaac Netero & King Meruem
Isaac Netero and King are both the most powerful characters in Hunter x Hunter. Both of them have the same power level. If we talk about Isaac Netero, he was the chairman of the Hunter Committee. During his prime, he was the most powerful character in terms of every aspect. Even after being 100 years old, he outmatched Meruem’s speed and gave him the tough fight. His overpowered nen ability allows him to summon 100-type Guanyin Bodhisattva. This attack unleashes 1000 arm attacks within seconds and can crush any opponent with ease. His most powerful attack, the light beam, is formed after sucking the life energy from living beings and can leave a lot of radioactive effects in the opponent’s body. He even holds a miniature version of a nuclear bomb in his heart which can activate by his will.
Netero and Meruem: Hunter x Hunter
Meruem, on the other hand, is the major antagonist of the Hunter x Hunter’s Chimera Ant arc. He is indeed the most powerful character in the series and can be directly compared with Netero. He even fought with Netero in a fair battle and ended up emerging victorious. Even though Netero was very old at that time and the consequences he faced after the fight was against his ordeal. When Netero activates the nuclear bomb, he gets poisoned with the blast and got weaker by the minute. After Netero, no one was near to him in terms of power level. He met with Komugi and started enjoying her company. Even though Komugi got poisoned, she didn’t leave Meruem alone. When both Meruem and Komugi passed away, Chimera ant arc came to an end.
