Domain expansions or Ryoki Tenkai is one of the many things that makes Jujutsu Kaisen so special. You can call it a somatic version of genjutsu that traps your opponent in a separate expanse instead of an illusion. In technical terms, it’s an advanced barrier technique that exposes someone’s innate domain to create a space of their own. Inside their own domain, the caster’s cursed techniques improve tenfolds and become unavoidable. The most efficient way of snapping out of a domain is casting a superior domain as Gojo did against Jogo.
Despite Domain Expansions being such an overpowered technique that defies the laws of nature, it comes with a fair share of drawbacks. It requires a huge amount of cursed energy, and there’s always a risk of running out of cursed energy. No one can cast two Domain Expansions simultaneously unless the caster has six eyes like Gojo sensei. Here, we have ranked all the strongest Domain Expansions we have seen so far.
Deadly Sentencing (Hiromi Higurama)
This is the most recently introduced Domain Expansion and also the most unique in this list. Unlike the other Domain Expansions, Hiromi Higurama’s Deadly Sentencing doesn’t ensure 100% accuracy. It traps the victim in a court-like space where their judgment takes place.
Here, evidence is placed before the court. If it’s not enough to prove someone guilty, they are given three options: confession, denial, or silence. Once the victim speaks, the judgment occurs based on the truthfulness of their statement. If the defendant is found guilty, they won’t be able to use the cursed technique anymore. In case the victim doesn’t have any cursed technique, he won’t be able to use curse energy anymore. In his fight against Itadori, he found Itadfori guilty twice and sent him for the death penalty.
Chimera Shadow Garden (Megumi Fushiguru)
Megumi’s Chimera Shadow Garden is a Domain Expansion that surrounds the area with a thick fluid-like shadow. It amplifies the power of the Ten Shadows technique to a whole new level, allowing him to summon multiple Shikigamis at a time.
However, resorting to Chimera Shadow Garden uses up all of Megumi’s cursed energy reserve, resulting in physical backlash. He tried using this to break free from Horizon of the Captivating Skandha, but it didn’t go well. Not to mention, this is an incomplete technique, and there’s no way of telling how strong it will become once Megumi masters it.

Graveyard Domain (Smallpox Deity)
To everyone who hasn’t heard of Smallpox Deity yet, it is one of the registered special grade cursed spirits that Psedu-Geto summoned with his curse manipulation. It can cast a disease-causing domain called the Graveyard Domain. As the name suggests, it traps the victim in a coffin and buries them deep underground using a large falling boulder gravestone. If they cannot leave the domain within the first three seconds, the victim will suffer from smallpox and die.
Horizon of the Captivating Skandha (Dagon)
The prettiest ocean can turn into the scariest nightmares within moments. That’s how versatile Dagon’s Domain Expansion, Horizon of the Captivating Skandha is. It basically traps the victim in a beautiful beach-like area surrounded by palm trees and everything else that you expect from a tropical vacation spot. He uses this domain to relax in the water with Mahito, Pseudo-Geto, and others.
However, this dream-like place will become the last place you want to visit if you aren’t an ally of Dagon. Within his domain, Dagon can control a massive amount of water and can summon dozens of shark-like Shikigamis. The domain ensures 100% accuracy, and the Shikigamis keep striking back till the opponent dies. It was only because of Togi Fushiguru’s intervention that Megumi and Nanami survived the Domain Expansion.
Self-Embodiment of Perfection (Mahito)
Imagine if Mahito didn’t have to touch his opponent to activate his infamous Idle Transfiguration. Sounds scary already, right? That’s what happens inside his Self-Embodiment of Perfection domain. It’s like getting trapped in Mahito’s palms with no hope of survival. Its only drawback is Mahito is forced to touch anyone’s soul who steps into the domain. If Yuji hadn’t intervened that fateful day, Nanami would have been dead long before the Shibuya Incident arc.
Coffin of the Iron Mountain (Jogo)
Jogo’s Coffin of the Iron Mountain is one of the first Domain Expansions that we saw in the Jujutsu Kaisen. This technique has the potential to incinerate any ordinary sorcerer within seconds of stepping into the domain. Jogo has a full-size Volcano within his domain and can even control the earth within it.
However, to his dismay, he was foolish enough to invite Satoru Goju in a war of Domain Expansion and got miserably overpowered. Jogo’s arrogance served as a lesson for other cursed spirits that they shouldn’t mess with Gojo.
Malevolent Shrine (Ryomen Sukuna)
This technique belongs to Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses himself. It is safe to say that Malevolent Shrine looks the scariest of any other Domain Expansion in this list. It takes the form of a Buddhist shrine that has been altered to worship a devil such as Sukuna. Unlike the other Domain Expansions, it doesn’t create a separate space with a barrier. The technique is effective over an area of approximately 200 meters. Be it a special grade curse or a shaman, nothing can survive Sukuna’s Cleave and Dismantle withinMalevolent Shrine.

Immeasurable Void/Infinite Void (Satoru Gojo)
Satoru Gojo’s Unlimited void has absolutely no weakness. It’s the prettiest and yet the deadliest Domain Expansion that the Jujutsu world has ever seen. It teleports to the victim with the very center of the universe and saturates their mind with limitless information. Immeasurable Void forces them to feel everything in the universe all at once and messes up anyone’s mental stability completely.
It erased Jogo’s Coffin of the Iron Mountain as some child’s play. A 0.2-second exposure to this technique can cause 2 months of rehabilitation for any normal person.
