After the immense success of the dance survival show Street Woman Fighter, Mnet went on to release a spin-off. Wanting to put together all of the passionate and talented high school dancers, the producer of the survival show came up with the idea of Street Dance Girls Fighter for the best dance crews across the high schools in South Korea. While the dance crews from Street Woman Fighter, YGX, Lachica, Want, WayB, Coca N Butter, Prowdmon, HolyBang, and Hook also participated in the spin-off as Judges and Mentors for the girls. Dreaming of making it big in the fierce industry, young dancers gave some jaw-dropping performances throughout the show.
While Kang Daniel came back as the host for the show, becoming the judges and mentors to the young girls working hard to make their dream come true, the leaders of the dance crews also recalled their teen years. The show started with 30 dance crews. Premiering in November 2021, the hunt for the ‘Street Fighter’ dance crew went on till early January 2022. And as it neared its ending, only six dance crews, Newnion, Floor, Mismolly, Turns, Brand New Child, and K.L.W.C made it to the finale and went on to deliver their groundbreaking final performances.
‘Street Girls Fighter’ Winner: The Girls of ‘Turns’ Take The Trophy Home!!!
Having the highest score in all the criterias, ‘Turns’ ended up winning the show, with Newnion and Mismolly taking second and third place. Meanwhile, Brand New Child came in fourth place, with K.L.W.C and Floor ending up at fifth and sixth. Winning the cash prize of 10 million won, the five-member dance crew ‘Turns’ ended up winning season 1 of ‘Street Dance Girl Fighter’. Having five members, the dance crew consists of Jo In Na, Kim Na Hyun, Kim Chae Won, Park Na Joo, and Song Hee So. All the team members are 03 and 04 liners. With Jo In Na leading the team and YGX being their crew mentor, the girls did an amazing job throughout the show.
The scores were divided into three parts in the 30+40+30. It included the judges’ average scores in the final day’s first and second rounds, along with the live voting by viewers and the old scores. The grand finale took place on January 4, 2022, and was divided into two rounds. The first round featured the crews performing a newly produced song. Taking turns and showcasing their talent, the crews performed on some recent hits. Newnion and Floor took the stage, performing on Itzy’s “Weapon”. While Mismolly and Turns showed their powerful movements for Mamamoo’s Solar and Moonbyul’s “Bada Boom.” K.L.W.C and Brand New Child also took the stage to perform to Jeon So Yeon’s “Fire”. In the second round, by performing the choreography, they prepared themselves, ‘Turns’ went on to rule over the opponent MisMolly during “One Top Crew Mission” and ended up winning the second round too.
What Will Be The Future of ‘Street Fighter’ Series?
Both seasons of the survival show ‘Street Woman Fighter’ and ‘Street Girl Fighter’ have been a major hit, not just in South Korea. But in other parts of the world too. And with both series ending, everyone was sad saying goodbye to the stage they’ve been on and working hard on for months. Looking at the success of the show and not wanting to limit their search for great dancers, Mnet is already preparing for another addition for the show. As Daniel, the judges, and the contestant were bidding byes to each other, Mnet went on to announce the release of “Street Man Fighter”. A video teaser is already out, revealing that the upcoming survival show will be out this summer. And just like the previous seasons, Chief producer Kwon Young Chan and Producing Director Choi Jung Nam will be taking over the production team.
