Does the new hit anime Spirit Chronicles have a season 2? With the annual summer seasonal anime finally reaching its conclusion, the anime studios have fed the fans exceptionally well with new animes like Tokyo Revengers, Girlfriend Girlfriend, Kobayashi Chi No Maid Dragon S, Vanitas No Karte, My Next Life As A Villainess, and so many more in its final arcs or episodes of running time. The Isekai slate of this season, Spirit Chronicles, also concludes with the airing of its last episode as the fans demand a second season.

The story is an Isekai and fantasy novel based on a Light Novel written by Yuri Kitayama and illustrated by Riv. Seirei Gensouki, or Spirit Chronicles, made by TMS Entertainment, has had a Monday broadcasting schedule for the past three months and has finally concluded. The release of season 1 was on July 6, 2021. It aired for twelve episodes. Ultimately it ended on September 21, 2021. However, is there going to be a second season? What information do we currently have about any upcoming projects for the anime?

Spirit Chronicles Season 2 Release Date Predictions

Fans who were expecting a season 2 or a sequel must be disappointed to learn that there is no official announcement about its production or the sort. Spirit Chronicles Season 2 release date is something, the whole fanbase is looking for right now as the first season has recently ended. TMS Entertainment is also known for projects like Dr. STONE Season 3, Fruits Basket Season 3, and Megalo Box Season 2: Nomad. There might be various reasons for the company to hesitate to make a sequel.

Although the finale was adequate and made up for the beginning half, the anime’s start is poor, and the audience can find it hard to get hooked on the show. Due to the generic Isekai storyline, the plot follows the repeated pattern of the overpowered protagonist, harem of beautiful girls, poor character development, and excessive fanservice, which could be why many Isekai fans drop the show early on.

However, since the first season ended on a cliffhanger, the changes for a second season are not impossible and could very well be in work. The production company announced Kitayama’s manga series to have an anime adaption in November 2020. After an approximate eighth month of production, it premiered in July 2021. Assuming we get an official announcement in the coming months, then the ‘Spirit Chronicles’ season 2 will release sometime around late 2022 (maybe as a fall or winter seasonal anime).

How will the anime adapt the story?

As mentioned before, the anime follows the plotline of its light novel. When a light novel gets adapted into a television series, the episodes will condense for airing purposes. The last episode of season 1 ends with a significant cliffhanger, thus implying there may be a sequel to clarify the viewers.

Warning before you proceed! The content contains spoilers for the last episode of Spirit Chronicles. In the finale, after Rio interrupts Celia’s wedding making her run away with him, he hears about three people from Modern-day Japan who had gotten teleported in this realm. Once the protagonist saves the people, he finds out that one of the three is his childhood friend, Miharu.

In season 1, the story heavily focuses on Rio’s life. However, season 2 would mainly follow Haruto’s life. It will contain most of the answers to all the unending loopholes created in season 1, like where the protagonist’s power comes from and the reason for his god-like strength.

Season 1 Episode 12 adapts until volume 5 of the original light novel series illustrated by Yuri Kitayama. Thus, the sequel would contain the content succeeding that. In September 2021 itself, a total of 20 volumes will be published for the light novel that can provide content up to four whole seasons!
